and find another defensive coach to coach LBs and get the defense fired up. Goodwin knows how to play call but he isn't getting our boys fired up and tackling well. Our defense isnt bad but they are not Venables boys. we need some fire, but the d isn't bad enough to fire him.

That's ridiculous. Let's hire a proven DC with a good resume, then hire an up and comer (with actual playing and position coaching experience) for the LB's.

I've said the same thing in several other post! Put CWG in the booth and heck even put Boulware as the play caller (if he has learned the calls) on the field and the sideline LB coach! He will get them fired up!

If Clemson beats SMU, Dabo won't fire anybody. They NEED to lose the next 2 games, forcing him to do something. The heat will be overwhelming on him, and make him act. Losing the ACC Tile game and a bowl
could be a blessing in diguise for the Tigers.

You need a DC to understand fundamental football and be able to teach it. I don't think that's Wes, he's a good playcaller not so much a good coach.

I think Wes understands the fundamentals better than most. The ability to teach might be an issue though. He's obviously not a great communicator but I think he's done a good job all things considered. Louisville was the only bad game from his unit all year. That's good enough to win. I know this, there's much less of a case to fire Wes than there is Riley imo.

I don't agree. You look at how many times players are making up for bad scheme with individual effort or the amount of times guys have to do another guys job bc they are out of position. The defense is on a fast track to being a vic Koenig style defense.

How can you possibly call a 73rd ranked rushing defense “better than most?” He doesn’t know how to stop the run, it’s gotten worse every year

The stats are misleading this year considering a good portion of those games we were deep into the bench. Hell, vs NC ST. we literally had walk-ons playing on defense. With that said, we're still 17th in ESPN's defensive efficiency which is a better indicator than just yards given up and we're averaging 1 point more per game in points given up than Georgia. Did Kirby Smart forget how to call defense all of a sudden or should be fired? He's got a hell of a lot more talent to work with than we do right now that's for sure. Like I said, Wes ain't the issue.

We have position coaches for a reason. The That's not all on the DC to go out their and teach fundamentals, they are the game planners and play callers.

I don't think Wes has done terrible to be honest. In all 3 losses this year, it's been the offense that went to crap and kept throwing the defense on the field every 2 mins in the 2nd half. The defense can only do so much if the offense isn't going to play complementary football and do their part. If you told me before the SC game that they would have 10 points with 1 min to go, I'd say we won by 2 TDs min.

That’s insane. Our Rush defense, which is one of the most important stats,, is ranked 73rd in the nation. That is unacceptable, period!
The gamecocks Rush defense is ranked 16.
That’s why they won the game. They slowed our run game down, but we couldn’t stop theirs.
Need a coordinator who can fix this. It’s gotten worse under Pchop evey year.

Our run game stopped so change the game plan and stop taking shots down field, slants and seam passes? Shutting down offense in 2nd half has been one of the biggest problems. Shud have lost Pitt, anyone disagree? Play not to lose. Defense was pretty good on sat. Tho I would like to know the real reason behind Sammy not being in the 4th quarter against such a 1 dimensional team.
