And merthiolate cure everything, so my late mother says. This should help all the posters asking medical questions.

Both. LOL. When your mama came at you with that glass wand out of the bottle, you'd rather just get the infection.

My grandmother referred to it as Monkey Blood. Anytime it was needed she'd say "bring me the monkey blood." My cousin brought her step brother over one day and he wasn't familiar with us or our grandmother. He fell outside and busted up his elbow. She called for the "monkey blood" he turned white as a ghost and passed out LOL!!! Dude thought she literally had a bottle of monkey blood and was going to rub it on him. Good times!

That's how the team doctor is gonna treat the cuts and scrapes this year. Probably an NIL thing.

Running that glass wand over a wound with that stuff was inhumane. My brother was a clutz. I used to laugh because he was always getting that stuff smeared on his knees etc. He deserved it !

Still have some mecurachrome. Good stuff!

You were lucky to get the Castor Oil, my Grandma would sharpen a bar of lye soap.....you would never mention that you couldn't poop around her.

I remember those days and the sting. There were other med our folks and grandfolks used too such as Oil o Sol and Campho Phenique that were effective for different purposes. Not sure how many doses of mecurocrome and merthiolate I got but it was a bunch.

Yall are showing your age with these meds...

We didn’t go in for any of those newfangled hocus pocus remedies. We got, “get up, rub some dirt on it or take a seat crybaby”. Luckily, I always lived where there was a large supply of magic dirt readily available.

My dear departed Mama was that way about some poisonous elixir call CAMPHPHENIQUE or something like that. She put it on us for everything from colds to broken limbs. That stuff on an open sore reduced my 100 time by 3 seconds!!
