I plant in BIG pots and plants grow 8 feet tall and produce well. Plant okra in BIG pots and it grows 7 feet tall and it produces well. I had 12 raised bed boxes 4x12 on 17 acres before I got liver cancer and had to move to continuing care community. So, the big buckets is all I can use now.
Was given 6 months to live 6 years ago. Had a full abdomen MRI yesterday and I am still cancer free. Was treated with Y90 iridium. I am known here as the walking miracle. All I can say is God still answers prayers and my favorite song is "The Goodness Of God". The Nelons sing it beautifully but breaks my heart when I see them sing it. All but one of them died in plane crash last year.
Tomorrow as Christians, we celebrate the victory of life over death and eternal life.
Bless all of you. Remember, God is still in the Miracle business. So, never give up if you think you are in a hopeless situation.

May God continue to bless you each and every day.
I say a miracle is an answer to prayer. You are a miracle for everyone to see and know.

I’ve had a lot of issues growing tomatoes here in Arkansas. How big of a pot are we talking? Do you use any specific soil? Any special concoctions or soil additions? So glad you’re still with us. God Bless You and Happy Easter!

I use 20 and 25 gallon nursery planting pots. Black plastic. You can use all kinds of plastic containers.
I fill pots 3/4 full with Miracle grow potting soil. I add black cow manure and mix in top 3 inches. I add granular tomato fertilizer and cover with 1 inch potting soil after i set the plant.. When place the plants in center of pot, I put black cow in bottom of "hole" I am placing plant in. I place bottom of plant on top of the black cow. I then put black cow all around the plant and finish covering with potting soil in the pit. I then spread black cow on top of the soil and watering it and the potting soil during growing season will get the nutrients to the roots. I mulch with pine needles. Place metal cage in pot around plant. Insert a tall metal pole through cage to hold it in place and keep plant watered. I may add some granular fertilizer during growing season by sprinkling on top of pine needles mulch and water it in. The plants do get 7-8 feet tall and grow out of the top of the metal cages. They produce lots of tomatoes. So does the okra grown in the same size pots. I like to get 4 okra plants per pot evenly spaced apart from each one. I use miracle grow potting soil and black cow for the okra pots. There are many soil mixtures you can use, but for me with the restrictions I have to follow, this is the easiest for me. It's always available at the big box garden centers. The potting soil stays loose and roots do well. You need to completely replace the potting soil every 3rd year.
I have been growing vegetables for 70 years. Probably longer as I was helping parents plant big garden when I was 6 years old and I have had a garden every year since. My mom lived to be 100 and she planted a garden until she was 94 yoa.
Good luck. By the way, tomatoes love full sun. So does okra.

I do my tomatoes very similarly. I like the pots so I can start earlier and move indoors in a frost threat. I try to do as many heirloom varieties as possible. I’ve had mine in over a month and I’m already hitting 2-3’ tall! I pinch the blooms the first month to allow maximum plant growth. I try to use only neem oil and other plants to keep pests off my plants

Growing up. I hate to admit it but was picky and didn’t like some things like tomatoes. I’ve tried to grow similar but I think my soil isn’t as rich here as it was in NC. Now I love all vegetables and wish I’d have enjoyed them. Unfortunately, my dad died in 2002 and didn’t get to see me get married (he was a preacher and set to officiate), my children, or ever know that I went to medical school. But he has passed on the desire to have a garden and now my kids have enjoyed being a part of that too. I’ve had good luck with other plants in our garden including some okra. But I just can’t get tomatoes right. I’ll try your reccs. Thanks!

Praise God! I sing a song they used to perform in church called “The Suns Coming up in the Morning” and ironically is the first song I ever sang solo 37 years ago! All things are possible through Christ. It warms my heart to hear your testimony!
