Knowing pitching is biggest need to make the jump from good to elite again, losing a key piece wasn't something needed.

He was a key liability all season. If it weren’t for Clemson’s amazing hitting he would probably have a losing record. Clemson won in spite of the majority of the pitching staff all season.

Just getting numb and even more numb. Won’t fault him; he knows more about his future or potential at Clemson than I do, for sure. It just makes it harder to follow or support. I guess what I’m saying is it is another brick in the wall, nail in the coffin, or whatever other euphemism there is for killing my interest or desire to watch or support college athletics.

The cash may be greener.... Clemson recruits at a very high level. If we don't have the money to retain, we're see this happen. We don't have the resources to keep everyone.

I don't think Barlow is chasing money. They probably just told him that they don't see a spot in the rotation for him next year. He most likely wants to start and unfortunately I don't think he is Clemson weekend starter material. I feel like he ends up with a SoCon team or something along those lines.

Not a surprise. Probably wanted to be a weekend started and didn't have a path to that at Clemson. Plus, he wasn't good in that role when he got the chance. Too erratic.
He'll land somewhere and be fine. But Clemson will find someone else.

…into the portal (for ALL sports). Rosters are rebuilt annually, as they are through incoming freshmen. The recruiting base is simply expanded.
Now, the roles get switched up between players and coaches. Now players would have to convince coaches that they should be RETAINED.
There could be a “1st dibs” on each player for the team they played for the previous season, so that coaches could immediately retain players they really want to stay on the team.
What about their academics, you say? Seems like the universities have already worked that out with the portal, so I don’t see this as an issue.
