Kinda like UofSC, they’re so used to losing they have their on little ditty, and one posted the NCAA rule where it’s crystal clear the player MUST slide or it’s interference.

“All depressed Hokies, sing with me 🎶
I got them Hokie Blues
I got them Hokie Blues
Just when I think we win we lose
I got them Hokie Blues!”

Here's the exact rule from the NCAA rulebook

Force-Play-Slide Rule

SECTION 4. The intent of the force-play-slide rule is to ensure the safety of all players. This is a safety and an interference rule. Whether the defense could have completed the double play has no bearing on the applicability of this rule. This
rule pertains to a force-play situation at any base, regardless of the number of outs, except it does not apply to the batter-runner at first base.

a. On any force play, the runner, in the vicinity of the base, must slide on the ground before the base and in a direct line between the two bases. It is permissible for the slider’s momentum to carry them through the base in the baseline extended.

Seeing the specific rule, not sure why they even reviewed it

Under that rule, the entire situation was totally obvious and correctly called.

It was a game of momentum swings, and we got ours last.

We were fortunate, but overall we were the better team last night.
