Best Case Scenario

I can almost guarantee that one of us (Us, SMU, UM) will lose a conference game between now and 11/30, that said, if all three of us win out and we get left out of the ACCCG that may be a blessing in disguise.
Think about it, if we play that game and lose there’s a chance the playoff committee penalizes us… Now think about if we win out and don’t play, our only loss would be to #1 UGA in Atlanta in week 1 of the season… No way they can keep us out at that point, and if anything we’d probably end up as the 6, 7 or 8 seed and get a home game in the Valley.
Morale of the story, just keeping winning and it’ll sort itself out!

I have seen people mention the possibility of Clemson missing the ACCCG a few times.
My question is; not trying to be difficult, I just don't think I get something here:
*We play Pitt - so if we beat them - they aren't going ahead of us. *SMU plays Pitt - I guess, people assume SMU beats Pitt, right? I don't think that's going to happen as a side note. *We are assuming Miami will beat the rest of their ACC schedule - yet, the only teams they have struggled to beat this season are ACC teams. Lucky to win two of them, now! *The record of opponents is taken into consideration of ACC opponents only? If so, aren't we playing the same teams? What am I missing there?
If Clemson has an easy chance of being left out in other words; I am just trying to get on the same page as everyone. I am missing something apparently that SMU, Pitt and Miami could beat Clemson out of the ACCCG.
I get it too - OP. Missing the ACCCG might be a good thing; but one of the goals is to win the league. It does provide another opportunity for key players to get banged up; but it also provides a good test "in theory" for the CFP if we should be so lucky to make it.
Trying to understand the variables.

We are assuming Miami will beat the rest of their ACC schedule Wouldn't it be awesome to see FLST beat Miami, in Miami?
Not saying they will, but rivalries are funny things. FLST has the individual talent on D to shut them down.

We need NC state to keep winning and cal keep losing. Since both Miami and SMU play Cal. They can keep there winning percentage down.

Halfway though the season:
Miami's opponents have a 47.62% winning percentage Clemson's have a 45% winning percentage SMU's have a 40% winning percentage.
I have excluded teams like FSU from the calculations since they play all three of the contenders.

I think there's a better chance of all going 7-1 vs 8-0. Our last 3 are no 'gimmes'. In fact, they are the 3 best ACC teams on our schedule

Miami has struggled in "EACH" of their ACC games so far! They escaped Cal 39-38. VT really should have beaten them; but they won 38-34. Louisville was point for point with them until some mistakes.
Then the rest of their schedule reads like this: Ball State 62-0, Florida A&M 56-9 and Florida 41-17(Florida offensively is putrid though).
Pitt has beaten UNC and Cal in ACC play and they struggled with Cal. They beat UNC by 10 34-24(how did you give up 24 pts to them with a 3rd string QB). The rest of their schedule was: Youngstown St, Cincinatti (close win 28-27), W. Virginia in the backyard brawl and Kent "friggin" State.
SMU lost to BYU. A team that is physical on the line of scrimmage(remember that point).
In conference: beat FSU with DJU, beat Stanford and Louisville. Houston Christian, Nevada(close game 29-24), and TCU completes their schedule.
I think they Mustangs have 2 losses coming: Pitt and Cal.
Pitt - I think Clemson beats them, I also think Louisville will beat them. Strong chance Boston College beats them in the last game of the season in Boston.
Miami - Will lose to Syracuse(I know how people like to bookmark post and say this didn't age well and I am still posting it). And, if H. King is back I can easily see them getting beaten by GT in Atlanta.
There - problem solved!

Yep. Pitt is never an easy trip either!
I feel like Clemson is more of the hunter now instead of the hunted. People will still give Clemson it's best effort due to the consistent dominance over the ACC. But, unlike previous years where we may have let a little over-confidence creep in: "no reason that will be the case with this group"! I think it will be a "everybody is against you, what are ya'll going to do type situation"! Which Dabo thrives in.
I think we will have the Eye of the Tiger and go into those games ready to fight/scrap/maul/tackle/block/execute/etc. for a win. They want it; but not the way we want it. Some of the Seniors this time of year who are realizing "football for them is nearly over" tend to step up big. Seniors or players who have next level aspirations. I have a couple OL in mind who I think will end up seeing this last half of the season as an opportunity to possibly get drafted. They have the raw gifts to do it and the scheme. I think we see an hungry Tigers team ready to get busy this last half of the season and they get it done.

I don't care where you are ranked, if you don't even get into your conference championship game and you hope to get into the CFP, you better be from the SEC or the BIG. Other than that, you ain't gettin' nuthin'.
