that this guy clearly has his own agenda for doing this. He's obviously got some bone to pick with the entire south, not just our obnoxious brothers and sisters in the SEC.
Kudos for the article, but I'd take this guy's animosity with a "grade of slaw"
(if you don't know what I mean, check the jounge out some time. bunch of crazies there. lol.)

several days back. Discussed, shot down..... Pick the sport - football, baseball, basketball, track, gymnastics........on and on. The SEC reigning champ or recent national champ in nearly everything. Now, that won't continue forever, but for now, the best _________ (name ur sport) is played in the SEC.

Yes you can say that for Football, but it does not cover all sports.
Men's Soccer, the ACC is the best (and it is not even close), the SEC does not even have a conference.
Men's Basketball, right now the Big East or the Big 10 is probably the best, but the ACC is right behind it.

The SEC is the SEC of today because of it's revenues generated through ESecPN, CBSec, and other TV, apparel, etc. contracts. That's why these schools can afford to have the best coaches (Saban, Miles, Meyer, Muschamp, Richt, even Spurrier) and consistently have the highest paid staffs. They can afford to furnish their facilities with the best of the best to attract the best of the best. The only thing that should be taken from the SEC's dominance is that the talent in this country is in the Southeast. The conference these teams in don't make them good, it's the fact that the former Confederate States (for lack of better word) produce the top athletes in the entire World--yes world--from top to bottom. But, with everything else, it's cyclical. Other programs are beginning to catch up to SEC recruiting, coaching staffs, and facilities (CU and FSU for example).
Lastly, only thing that bothers me is the SEC as whole is no better than any other conference, however, the best of the SEC are the best of anywhere--as much as I hate to admit it. Miss St, Ole Miss, Tennessee, UGA, S Car, Kentucky, and Vandy are simply riding coat tails of the other schools, and they know it. Their records would be the same in any other conference--look at their schedules this year...cupcakes!!

Bama's strength of schedule was harder....who else did Oregon have to play after they lost to LSU?
I'm an Auburn fan, so I HATE bama....but in all honesty LSU and bama were the 2 best schools last year and deserved to play for it all.
The SEC has a lot more ranked teams at the beginning of the year (whether worthy or not) so when those teams play each other it is played out as juggernauts vs juggernauts in a league of their own.

Oklahoma State should have been in the Championship game last year. E$ecPN started campaigning for the Alabama/LSU rematch in the national championship game right after the first meeting ended.

I get that to an extent...but...

how can you justify 2 teams who had a common opponent that they both lost to.
One was on a neutral site and that team dropped 10 spots in the first couple of weeks, or...
the other team who had home-field advantage and only dropped 1 spot much later in the season.
The only way that happens is some tampering.

There is a point there. That is why I followed it with whether fair or not...
Granted, one could say that Oregon had ALL summer camp to prepare for LSU while Bama only had 1 week (2 if there was a bye)
Oregon also didn't have to run through the same gauntlet (ranked teams whether fairly rated or not) that Bama did.
Again, I think there is some tampering and the playing field as far as accurate rankings is definitely not even. It will get better with the playoff but not by much. There has to be a way to take the bias out of it. Until that is learned though we will always be stuck with a flawed system.

Also, until another conference beats an SEC team in the national championship it will be hard to have actual facts that the SEC's dominance is mythical.
Regardless of records in non National Championship bowl games. The game that matters....is the one the SEC wins.

The main argument is why did oregon drop so much compared to bama dropping so little when they both lost to LSU.
9-6 is a MUCH closer game then 40-27....
Either way....whether fair or not...until a non sec school knocks the SEC off....people are going to have fair reason to say the SEC is the dominant one.

That is why I said whether fair or not. OSU had less of a reason to be in the game then Oregon would have. They lost to an unranked team that they had NO RIGHT losing to in any way if I recall correctly.
The regular season means something. Who you beat or loss to and the fashion in which you do it is crucial.

LSU already beat Alabama (at Alabama), if the regular season "means something" there would have been no reason for these two teams to play again.

you have bama vs lsu, oregon vs lsu, OSU vs the podunk team they lost to...
In all honesty between those matchups....the bama vs lsu rematch is seriously the best 2 teams in college football. Mainly because of how their regular seasons played out.
We can agree to disagree. I hate bama, was rooting against them. But unfortunately the way the season played out they were seriously the 2nd best team ranking wise behind LSU.
