pond was still a power five pond. That was ideal. Unless something changes, we will be a big fish in a smaller pond, but the pond is a group of 8 pond. Not a good situation at all. Let's hope one of the following happens.
1. Notre Dame joins in full with the ACC, the conference renegotiates to a much better contract and we have a power three. This is very unlikely. I expect Notre Dame to join the Big Ten within the month.
2. Clemson gets invite to the SEC. Many close teams and no longer have to worry about standing and stability. Not as good as the situation we have had with the ACC regarding being the big fish, but we can hold our own and recruit well enough to compete with anyone in the league.
3. Clemson gets an invite to the Big Ten. This is very unlikely, but if it did happen, there would probably be other southern teams in the mix. It could be advantageous to recruit players from the fertile grounds of the south and get players that want to play Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and the L.A. schools. We would also be able to recruit players from the midwest that want to play in the south.
That's it, there are no other options to stay in the power teams.
Also ACC commissioner screwed up with his refusal to consider playoff expansion.

I honestly think this conference shake-up was coming regardless. That refusal to expand the playoffs was the match that set the house on fire.

ND was desperate for a place to go, and the idiot gave them a one-year deal. That was Game Over for the ACC’s chance of adding ND, at least with a huge buyout.
Now here we are.
But at least he was on top of things when it came to making sure men could pee in the ladies room.

The ACC, Pac12 and Big Ten are on borrowed time. Dabo and the powers to be will do the right thing and join one of the two power conferences. Can’t wait to leave the ACC.

You meant the Big 12 is on borrowed time? The Big 10 just added USC and UCLA, right? I swear for as long as I've been following CFB (50 years) all of this constant adding and subtracting from both Big-However-Many conferences has me referring to each as the other.
