Moving from 145% to 30% is of course good.

But the 145% is still hanging out there. The uncertainty is still impacting markets, because it's just a 90-day reprieve. It could come back on us.

And 30% of China is still gigantic. When we couple a 30% on China plus 10% on everyone else, Trump will have presided over what amounts to a quadrupling of tariffs, from roughly 3% to 13% weighted. This will be in the form of extra costs to consumers, and it will not generate the explosion in manufacturing that Trump thinks. It will be almost all pain...almost no gain.

I'm not against all tariffs in all circumstances....

Biden's tariffs against China's chips industry was a good thing. It was very targeted, and it was also bipartisan work with congress, trying to onshore chips manufacturing.

What Trump is doing makes no sense.

A few weeks ago these tariffs were going to bring back jobs. Now that isn't mentioned at all. How do you just completely disregard those talking points?
