Batting lineup

2

Mar 6, 2023, 3:28 AM

Baseball has a lot of work to do. I’m not sure about our batting line up I think I would change it up. What do you guys think of this:

1 Cam CF (can fly and flat out puts the ball in play)
2 Blackwell SS ( handles the bat well contact hitter which you want in 2 hole)
3 Wright 3b (probably our best power hitter here to drive in runs)
4 Ingle C (2nd best power hitter here to drive in runs)
5 Abrams DH ( can hit for some power)
6 Taylor LF (Speed and some pop)
7 Fairley Rf (not bad can come through in the clutch at times)
8 Grice 1b ( well not sure where you put him at this point got to start producing)
9 Bertram 2b (nice piece at the bottom to act as a lead off at the bottom)

thoughts??

You could make the argument to switch 5 & 7 but I’d say they’re interchangeable at this point. As a team (excluding Grice) the Tigers are putting the bat on the ball and making the defense make plays. SC’s second baseman made some outstanding plays this weekend on some well hit balls. That’s baseball.

As far as Grice, maybe he needs to spend some time with a tee and a bucket of balls. He’s not seeing the ball at all.

I’m not ready to give up on this team. I have said it since the opener, I like the plate approach. Pitching needs an overhaul that can’t happen in a season. There’ll be some young arms that grow up this year, but as a whole, the pitching staff doesn’t have what it takes just yet.

Agree with the 5&7 spot.

My only other thought on that is I like having a DH further down in the lineup if you can. I feel like a DH towards the back of the lineup gives you a few more options, but this could also be a flawed strategy…

I agree unless your DH is just that good. You wanna be able to use that spot as a PH spot if need be and you want that to happen at the bottom of the order. 👍

Grice to me seems just like Cerrano in Major League, except

that he ain't got no Jobu to help him. Sadly, it may be, that for this team to actually start clicking, Grice may have to ride the pine, and put someone in his spot in the batting order that can actually hit a baseball on a consistent basis. He has proven, over a considerable period of time, that he cannot.
