Baptism leads to school record. Finally made national news

This is nice, but should it happen on the pratice field? Clemson is not BYU, Notre Dame, Bob Jones, etc.
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31751_162-57505827-10391697/clemson-wr-deandre-hopkins-baptized-at-practice-sets-school-receiving-record-two-days-later/
(CBS News) Like all ACC football teams, the Clemson Tigers went through several weeks of sweaty, bone-crunching practices leading up to the regular season. Said offensive coordinator Chad Morris: "There were some times in fall camp, it was pretty intense."
How intense? Amid the full-contact drills and triple-digit South Carolina heat, one player underwent a religious transformation - and his teammates were all witnesses.
Clemson wide receivers coach Jeff Scott tweeted this photo of junior wideout DeAndre Hopkins getting baptized on Thursday - apparently in a Rubbermaid ice tub.
In his tweet, Scott called the baptism the "highlight of my week."
Two days after the Christian rite, Hopkins made his own highlight of the week -- catching a school-record 13 passes, including a 4-yard touchdown, as the Tigers beat Auburn 26-19.
Hopkins is the second Clemson player to be baptized in a month. All-American wideout Sammy Watkins, who was suspended for the first two games of the season after an offseason drug arrest, was baptized last month.

Really? who cares where it happens as long as it happens.

The bible doesn't say it has to happen in a church or etc. Maybe that is where Hopkins wanted it to happen, to be a witness to the team or maybe he felt the need for it to take place then and there.

at youth events in swimming pools. See the pics of military baptisms in the desert in man made pools only 2 feet deep or less.

Did the baptism lead to it or did Sammy's pot arrest

lead to it?
Your post is misleading as it seems to suggest that without the baptism, Nuk wouldn't have gotten 13 catches.

I didn't read anywhere in there were the article suggests

that the baptism LEAD to the record. Only in your subject line does it say that.
Marijuana and unlawful possession of a prescription drug led more to his record day than the baptism did.

I personally think that God has more imporant things on his plate than making sure someone who gets baptized has a good game. What if an Auburn player got baptized or what if there's already great Christians on Auburn's team? Did God go out of his way to make them lose while he "helped" Nuk?
I get it. Y'all are religious. Y'all love God. But enough already with the linking of God to anything and everything Clemson sports related.
It's pathetic.
May God bless you all, CBS

He has enough time for anything and everything and I don't know if Hopkins baptism had anything to do with his 13 receptions but I'm not going to say it didn't.

I think its a positive story, and I'm happy for him. Yes, it's fine that it happened at a football practice too.
We live in a Country (and State) that were founded upon the principle of "In God We Trust", and religious freedom. We weren't founded upon the principles of atheism, Wahhabi-ism, etc.... Because we tolerate other points of view, does not mean we censor ourselves. "In God We Trust", and The Declaration of Independence make a pretty clear case for Christians to hang their hats on.

Be prepared for there to be some backlash on this

I could see some (not me) construing this as a violation of separation of church and state, what with Clemson being a state agency and the baptism taking place on their property using their equipment (the tub), etc.

I think anytime someone makes a stand for Jesus it makes people that don't know Jesus mad. I can't imagine anyone would have a problem with a young man making a change and standing on the forgiveness of all of his sins through what Jesus did at the cross. It doesn't mean he will judge others or that he will be perfect but it does mean that he will be welcomed all in the family of God.
I just impossible not to see the power in just the name of Jesus by how people get so made about someone saying I love Jesus now!
Two greatest commandments Love the Lord your God with all your heart and the second is like unto it. LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THY SELF.
It's a love thing but if you don't have unconditional love you miss the whole point in having Jesus.
I'm proud to see these young men grow up and make a choice to strive to be a man of unconditional love like Jesus. This doesn't make winning any easier but it does make men out of boys. Go TIGERS!
