Bakich Presser

Jun 16, 2022, 3:34 PM

I'm very impressed. He is a perfect fit for Clemson. I'm excited for the future. He sounds a lot like Dabo with the way he runs a program. I'm extremely excited.

I agree. Well spoken. Servant leader. Dad. Honored wife. Analytics but blue collar loves clemson. Honorable to Coach Lee in his comments. Instill confidence in kids. Make them feel 10’ tall and bullet proof. Bery impressive!

I've been listening to Michigan podcasts. They are absolutely devastated. He is LOVED at Michigan.

Yeah they are. I talked to a few on social media that was congratulatory but as you said, devastated. Wouldn't shock me if they didn't push for Schnabel to be hired as head coach. Hope not as I'd love to have him here.

Yeah. I am worried about losing Schnabel to them as HC. I hope not. He's awesome, too. But Bakich. It is no wonder he signed the #1 class in the country as the Vandy recruiting coordinator, no wonder he signed the only top 10 class in Big 10 history. Who wouldn't want their kid to play for that guy? Impressive human.

Indeed he is well spoken. Did he graduate from Clemson ? Just wondering how he became a volunteer assistant.

I watched it live. Very impressive. No, he played in Cali and then east carolina. Leggett brought him to Clemson. The Leggett interview posted is a good one too.

But he's always had an eye on Clemson. Glad he turned down the other jobs at coots etc.

Outsider's impression of the presser.

At first, I was not impressed with his opening comments. My reaction was, "He's just reading a canned speech." But by the end of the comments, my reaction was 180 degrees opposite. It was not a canned speech. It was a very well thought and and appropriate talk. He wrote it down because he wanted to make sure he didn't just start rambling and trying to remember all that he wanted to say.

After his opening remarks I had this impression: He is an organized, thoughtful and meticulous leader. He knows what the job is and is well prepared to attack it. His self-discipline and work ethic are clear. And, he's a likable guy. He's not as loose as Dabo (at least not yet) but he's certainly not as stiff as Saban.

After the Q and A part I was just as impressed. He didn't hedge on any answers. He didn't seem uncertain of what his answer would be. He listened to the question and he answered the question that was asked, not trying to change it around so he could say what he wanted to say.

In the vernacular, he won the press conference.

But, with that said, through watching several pressers over the years, FSU and other schools, winning the presser doesn't guarantee winning on the field. (The most impressive introductory press conference I have ever heard was Steve Robinson getting the basketball job at FSU. His coaching performance was not nearly so impressive.) If I were a Clemson fan I would be cautiously optimistic. And, that is the best I could hope for.
