Riley seems to have “it”

Very good speaker, clear on his comments, clear on his plan. Obviously results will shown if he actually does have “it” but i think he’s been impressive.

“It” is that he actually knows what he’s doing. It’s not complicated, and never should have been.

The fact that Streeter had to sit there and give BS answers was because he didn’t know what he was doing. Yeah DJ was DJ, but Streeter just wasn’t as advanced in controlling a whole offense.

but he took an offense ranked outside of the top 100 and had them at #48... in one season.

Not too bad for a guy with no scheme and no play calling.

That's just another thing you are wrong about. I'm pointing out how ignorant you are of facts. But you keep on emoting. And be sure to drop some insider info about what teams he rooted for growing up, or let people know that they are wrong about the way tnet looks on their phones, or misquote someone by saying they said they "quit reading your posts". For someone who can't stand being wrong, you are rarely right.

A lot of emotion in that post, are you alright? I'm sorry I

hurt your feelings by pointing out how unimpressive it was to put up a Top 48 offense after he had his hands all over an offense that wasn't even in the Top 100...I'm certainly right that it wasn't much of an accomplishment... and apparently Dabo thought so too, so there's that as well

2025 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

At this point I'm not sure you know who the OC was in 2021..

but that's ok. That emotion angle you just came up with is original. Nice work. It might be easier if you just let me write all your material at this point, at least you'd be more fun and less wrong.

But back to your original ignorant post...

Streeter had "no scheme and no playcalling that helped"

I pointed out that he took a 100 ranked offense and turned it into an offense ranked 48, which shows substantial improvement. Doesn't mean I'm against Streeter being let go. Doesn't mean I disagree with Dabo. It doesn't mean anything, other than you don't understand math.

2025 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Never did I say having…

1

Mar 9, 2023, 11:40 PM

the #48 offense was not too bad. I said…

“he took an offense ranked outside of the top 100 and had them at #48... in one season.
Not too bad for a guy with no scheme and no play calling.”

You said he had no scheme and no play calling. I presented data, a 50+ spot jump in offensive ranking his first season, which indicated he didn’t do too bad for a guy with no scheme and no play calling. I never said being ranked #48 is not too bad. You made that up.

And for some reason you want to now pin 2021’s offense the QB coach at the time, and not the OC. Again, your point centered on scheme and play calling. So you are attributing scheme and play calling to the QB coach in 2021, but not the QB coach in 2022. For some reason, Dabo stripped the OC of play calling in 2021, and gave that responsibility to the QB coach, but in 2022 he reversed course, stripping the QB coach of that responsibility, and giving it back to the OC. Hopefully David Hood asks Dabo about this in his next press conference.

badge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-francismarion.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"I've played multiple sports and would bet any amount that I'm still more athletic than you at this present time...."

Now who's making up details? I asked if Streeter had a hand

1

Mar 10, 2023, 12:28 AM

in that offense that couldn't even finish in the Top 100, I never attributed the scheme to him, that was your interpretation

2025 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly the point…

1

Mar 10, 2023, 6:06 AM

As I mentioned, your original comment revolved around scheme and play calling, your words. I addressed that directly. Now you are changing your argument from “scheme and play calling” to “just play calling, not scheme” and “had his hands in”. If those are the things you meant to say, those are the things you should have typed. Odd you aren’t giving the QB coach much credit for 2015-2020, since I’m sure the QB coach had his hands in the play calling, but not scheme, those years as well. Keep changing your position, eventually you won’t be wrong.

One thing we can agree on, Dabo didn't think improving

Re: Streeter may have had his faults...

3

Mar 9, 2023, 3:30 PM [ in reply to Streeter may have had his faults... ]

He and Elliot together also are responsible for us being outside the top 100 in the first place. And being only #48 with out offensive recruiting is absolutely inexcusable. We played an extremely easy schedule (and we played some great defenses in 2021, don't forget about SOS differences). We had a 5 star, national championship in high school winning QB and his backup was the #1 QB in the class who won the Elite 11. We had two NFL running backs. We had blue chip receivers and linemen and maybe a top 10 group of tight ends. And we couldn't be top 25 offense playing bottom 50 defenses?

Re: Streeter may have had his faults...

Mar 9, 2023, 3:59 PM

I’m going to have to agree with this the most.

Listen everybody, DJ went 21-5 as a starter. But somehow, it still looked like most of them time he couldn’t stop messing up. But what we did see for sure were flashes of greatness. ND in 2020, Wake in 2022, and countless plays where everybody adjusted their mindset for a minute before the next mistake.

Many of the issues came from that first game against UGA in 2021. I believe the pick-6 and all of the miscommunication carried on from that point. And the receivers have been pretty horrible for the last couple years.

It was both DJ and Streeter, but DJ is very talented, it’s in there. It’s why he was ranted on Bryce Young’s level in his class.

Re: Streeter may have had his faults...

1

Mar 9, 2023, 6:27 PM

I will agree. I don't like Streeter and that started when he was still coaching Trevor (I didn't like him as a QB either). But I don't think DJ's regression falls 100% on him. You make a good point about UGA. People hate UGA here, but they were very clearly one of the best defenses ever in 2021, on par with us in 2018. DJ got decimated by them because our offensive line wasn't even close to their defensive line. I think it probably messed him up mentally, which you see in plenty of sports (even prize horses can lose it after getting spooked).

Re: Streeter may have had his faults...

Mar 10, 2023, 1:37 PM [ in reply to Re: Streeter may have had his faults... ]

Streeter and Elliot also had their hand in 2 national championships, multiple playoff appearances, 2 Heisman candidates, and a #1 draft pick. No other OC/QB coach combo in the history of the program can say that. So while all you keyboard warriors sit at home bashing former coaches that don’t even know you exist…go do something productive with your life….and maybe just maybe someone will care enough about you to spend their free time writing about you on a fan webpage.

Re: There is no scheme or playcalling that could have

Mar 9, 2023, 12:53 PM [ in reply to There is no scheme or playcalling that could have ]

Disagree. Did he do it with smoke and mirrors at ND as a freshman? He had a much better supporting cast then than he did last year. And better play calling. He'll do well at Oregon State...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: There is no scheme or playcalling that could have

Mar 9, 2023, 3:07 PM

So him throwing the ball in the dirt 10 feet in front of the receivers, was because of him not having a good supporting cast? Gotcha

Re: There is no scheme or playcalling that could have

1

Mar 9, 2023, 3:39 PM

I was one of the people saying that Cade needed to start from day 1, but you have to think about this logically. DJ was one of the greatest high school QBs of all time. He was better statistically than Deshaun and Trevor against much tougher competition. He dominated camps, had NFL talent evaluators rave about him, and won the national championship against a team with all P5 athletes led by a future Heisman winner. He then came in as a freshman and in two games, broke all kinds of records. Anyone who says those things are flukes is an idiot.

You're right. There were a lot of issues with his play starting sophomore year. He became very inaccurate, stared down receivers, and held onto the ball too long. But we also saw the mechanics decline of every quarterback who worked with Streeter. Even Trevor dropped off mechanically (the sunshine pumpers argued with this, but the Jags new coach spoke on having to reteach him the position). Don't forget that Streeter is one of the worst QBs at Clemson in history (I don't care how tough he was, look at his stats and wins and his getting cut by arena football nearly instantly). So I think DJ's problems came entirely from Streeter's own woeful incompetence as a coach.

And it would not surprise me if he had a very good senior season, especially if his new coaches are decent at developing QBs and aren't idiots that try to make an extremely slow pocket passer into a running QB.

I know you're a loser but some of us actually work and have a life outside of making stupid posts on a forum.

It's not my job to fetch you links when you have the internet. Here you go: https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=Trevor+Lawrence+Jaguars+Mechanics

Press Taylor obviously didn't #### on Clemson's coaches. That would be unprofessional. But he spoke extensively about all of Trevor's natural talent, but that he had to rebuild his release. That link will give you information about Trevor being sent to the 3DQB training center to improve his throwing motion and "work on his mechanics." (that's a quote). The owner of the Jags specifically hired Pederson to help Trevor develop because he thinks he's their future.

There are dozens of articles about this. You're just too lazy to look it up. But does it really surprise you? Statistically, Streeter was among the worst QBs Clemson's ever had. He was cut because he couldn't make the third string of the Carolina Cobras. Is it that surprising that there may be issues if you hire a horrible QB to teach your QBs mechanics?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is a very long way of saying…

2

Mar 9, 2023, 6:48 PM

“The Jags coach never said that.”.

Got it.

PS: I didn’t need you to look it up, I already read it.

PSS: You can resort to name calling if that’s more comfortable for you, but you may want to focus your energy on not making lame implications.

““starting over with him and just building him from the ground up”. When asked to elaborate, this is what he had to say.
Fundamentally just starting over. Trying to erase last year and a lot of the things and be positive with him and just teach them the fundamentals of playing the game and not just throwing the ball, not the mechanics of it, but just playing the quarterback position and what it takes to be a leader on your football team, bet the face of the franchise, how to be a pro… just showing him how to study tape, what to study, and really getting him to verbalize with us as a staff, what he likes and doesn’t like and I think that’s part of the process of starting over with him and just building it from the ground floor up.”

“Erase last year”. He was in Jacksonville under Urban Meyer that year.

Supreme talent in HS, but couldn’t transition to the next level. Why not? Blame his coach. Truth is he just didn’t have a grasp of more complicated defensive schemes. Elliot and Streeter knew this and dumbed down our offense. It’s really obvious if you go back and watch the games from 21. Even Elliot said in post game interview, that he had to come up with plays to give DJ confidence. That is coach speech for “this guy can’t handle anything complicated”.
