We would think Dabo has a problem.

Can’t argue with that. Gotta admit I am also much less familiar with the b-ball assistants though.

We did lose our two most important and highest paid football assistants

and nobody seemed to be concerned about the program. In fact, some people were happy that one of them left.
We then promoted two under qualified coaches to fill those roles and most people cheered it as progress. The rationale was that Dabo has groomed them and that they will be as good or better than who we had.
Of course, losing basketball coaches is always criticized here as a sign that the program is in trouble. Any coaches we hire are immediately doubted as unqualified. The double standard is obvious to those of us who are paying attention.
Carry on…

Basketball coaches took lateral jobs.
Football coordinators took head coach jobs at major programs. You don’t understand the difference?

Maybe I misunderstood - I thought both assistants went lateral - to include money. To compare two football coordinators going to major head coaching positions - is not the same - now is it?

to be coordinators for a power 5 program of our caliber.
The difference is that I have chosen to trust Dabo because he knows them well and has seen them in action every day for a long period of time.
If you’re going to argue that they are the most qualified candidates for their respective positions, you’re just being a homer. That’s your right, but don’t tell me I’m off base.

I've said it before... if the coaches succeed, then no one will question their qualifications. Every successful coach had to start somewhere.

There is nothing ridiculous about it if the concern is losing important coaches.

That’s how I interpreted the point of the question.
Now if you want to discuss WHY we lost them, then of course the situations are different.
As I’ve said before, we don’t pay our basketball assistants very well. This is why we hire assistants from small programs like Quinnipiac, Kansas City, and Rhode Island. We lose them to similar positions at programs that haven’t been as good as us recently such as Boston College, Georgia, and NC State.
This should make you mad as a Clemson basketball fan. Why aren’t we paying enough to hire power 5 assistant coaches? Why are we losing coaches to power 5 schools that pay them more? This is not what programs that are serious about winning consistently allow to happen.

Yep, there is definitely a huge problem. I guess throwing money at the problem doesn't work. It's obviously gonna take a new dining room for the team.

The head coach is the 38th highest paid coach in America. I'm 100% sure the assistants are rich men as well. The lack of accomplishments in the program has NOTHING TO DO WITH MONEY. Its just your latest excuse, and nobody is buying your horsecrap.

And Lunatic Fringe lost its collective mind. And was highly critical of who Dabo hired. You can always count in Lunatic Fringe to push the panic button.

Here’s the fringe clown, right on time!
I’m curious…are these lunatics you are obsessed with the same people on both sides? Or is it a different posse for football and basketball?

Correct. Clemson football pays its assistants well
Apr 16, 2022, 11:37 PM

so they don’t typically take comparable jobs at other schools. To do so would mean taking a pay cut.
Heck, we paid BV and TE so much that most other head coaching jobs wouldn’t have paid them as much as they were making as coordinators here.
That’s not true for Clemson basketball. Our basketball assistants get pay raises when they take comparavle jobs at programs that have had less success than we have.

And our AD - 2 weeks after telling us we will fully fund basketball - Let these coaches leave without offering them equal or better money?
