Paul Finebaum again
Turned on the channel and the first thing he is discussing with a caller is Dabo replacing Jimbo Fisher.
“I think they’re sick of each other.”
The only times I have heard a Clemson caller on that show is a couple times when they asked why does he hate Clemson. Paul constantly plays it off as if he does not hate Clemson.
Paul truly knows how great Dabo is and he wants to stir the pot. He wants to rip Clemson apart. I promise you.
He is the biggest face of the SEC for a REASON. The SEC actually runs through his blood. It’s what he’s studied his whole life. Because he loves it. He cares, he may not show it, or play it like he’s purely professional.
Or does Dabo to A&M make sense?

If Dabo had 3 natties by now, and in contention this year, A&M may want him. Otherwise I doubt it.

That’s asinine. ANY program wants Dabo. The chickens would dance and roll out the welcome mat. Dabo, Saban, and Smart are in a classification all their own. Multiple natty’s in the playoff era.

You Johnny-come-lately guys are clueless. There isn’t a single program who wouldn’t love to have the 2nd best tenured coach in America cone to their program tonight. Some of you kids are so bizarrely short sighted.

Dabo is one of the top two coaches of the CFP era. You’re nuts. But then again you have a Dabo wannabe in Shame Beamer and he’s failing bigtime, so yeah, you’re not an expert at anything and wouldn’t know “the truth” if it snacked you in the beak. Coots have no business whatsoever preventing they understand big boy football. Go sit down, cawklover.

Now this is the reason I clearly stated that the SEC actually runs in him.
It’s a personal thing with him. He of course is apart of SEC propaganda and paid to be, but his dislike for Clemson is real. And it’s a personal disrespect.
That’s why I said that

It 100% makes sense that they would be interested. The only reason PF is talking about it is words that have come out of Dabo's mouth. Say what you want, but he doesn't seem very happy anymore. Maybe it's just getting older. But you can only talk about going somewhere else so many times before it happens.
And it would have to be a place like A&M that would have the means and balls to do it.

The overwhelming majority of Clemson people understand we have the 2nd best coach in America since 2009.
Your comical envy is noted. Your failure is also noted.
Are you looking forward to the beat down in two weeks? Shame had one more year to fail again, and that will be that. He will fail. That’s why nobody but you dummies have never considered this faker as a head coach. Only you numbskulls thought you had another Dabo.
Enjoy your pending loss and rooting for Clemsons bowl opponent while sitting at home like coots have done for over a century of failure.

Correct on both counts. Of course his name will come up... every big name school that has an opening, his name will be mentioned.
But tamu ain't Dabo's culture and Dabo ain't tamu culture. One school and one school only would be it.

Well, he was asked about it today and here was his response:
"I'm just focused on this job ... Always have been. Just trying to beat North Carolina. It must be November -- that's all I can say"
Yikes. As a reference, here is what Lanning had to say about it when asked:
"I think I’ve been really, really clear here since Day 1, everything I want exists right here. I’m not going anywhere. There’s zero chance that I would be coaching somewhere else. I’ve got unfinished business here; there’s a lot that I want to accomplish here at Oregon. My No. 1 priority is being elite here at Oregon and we have the resources, the tools — anybody that can’t understand why you would want to be here at this place does not understand exactly what exists here."
Those two very, very different responses.

The Greenville/Spartanburg/Charlotte college football viewing footprint is huge and loyal. Clemson and FSU are the only 2 programs in the South (And outside the SEC) that will carry massive numbers of viewers with a year round CFB following. He’s not above trolling those fan bases to reel them in. And unfortunately, some fan bases fan his flames more than others. We would all truly be better off ignoring him and his asinine games.

I dont think Dabo to A&M makes sense, for several reasons.
Nov 13, 2023, 8:38 PM
|
|
First, it’s not a better job than Clemson. It’s currently not as good. Why would Dabo take a job that isn’t even a lateral move at best?
Second, how much more would Dabo make there? I would think they would need to be in the $12-$14 million a year range to get Dabo’s attention. I’m not sure they want or need to pay that much for a coach.
Third, Dabo has no ties there. He’s never coached there. He doesn’t have family in College Station, TX. Leaving the program he has built here, and his life in Clemson, for A&M makes no sense.
Fourth, Dabo is loyal. We gave him a chance when he didn’t deserve it, and have faithfully stuck by him ever since. He has gotten everything he needed and wanted here in order to be successful. He doesn’t seem like the type of guy to forget that.
Fifth, A&M is a really tough job. Their fans expect a lot, but they aren’t on the same level as a program as a lot of other teams in the SEC. Just winning their division is a tall task in the SEC West. Dabo has won national championships. Why go somewhere like A&M where the expectations are really high and the path to success is really challenging, especially when he already has a great salary, a perfect situation, and nothing to prove?

While I understand your points, allow me to present a counterargument:
First, Texas A&M has a rich football tradition and a passionate fan base. The program has a large and dedicated following, which can provide a coach with immense support and resources. While Clemson may currently have the edge in terms of recent success, Texas A&M has the potential to become a powerhouse program with the right leadership.
Second, money talks. While it's true that Dabo Swinney is already well-compensated at Clemson, Texas A&M has the financial resources to offer a competitive salary. If they are willing to invest in a top-tier coach like Dabo, they could potentially meet his salary demands and provide him with the financial incentive to consider the move. Although, I don’t see Dabo valuing a million dollars more a year like you said.
Third , Texas A&M offers a unique opportunity for a coach like Dabo Swinney to make his mark. While Clemson has already achieved a high level of success under Swinney, taking on the challenge of building a program at Texas A&M could be an enticing prospect. The Aggies have a strong recruiting base in the talent-rich state of Texas, and with the right coach, they could become a perennial contender in the SEC and on the national stage.
Additionally, Texas A&M has a state-of-the-art football facility in Kyle Field, which can provide a top-notch environment for players and coaches. The program also has a strong academic reputation, which can be attractive to recruits and their families.
Furthermore, Texas A&M has a passionate and dedicated fan base that fills the stadium for every home game. The Aggies have a strong tradition of support and loyalty, which can create an electric atmosphere for players and coaches.
Lastly, Texas A&M is located in the heart of Texas, a state known for its football culture and talent. The proximity to high school football power.
But for Clemson….
Certainly, here is an argument for Clemson while also addressing counterpoints for Texas A&M:
Clemson offers Dabo Swinney a number of compelling reasons to stay:
First, Clemson has established itself as one of the premier football programs in the country. Under Swinney's leadership, the Tigers have won multiple national championships and consistently compete at the highest level. The program has a winning culture and a track record of success, which can be appealing to a coach like Swinney who values sustained excellence.
Second, Clemson has a strong support system in place. The university and its boosters have shown a commitment to investing in the football program, providing the resources necessary to compete at the highest level. Swinney has built a strong relationship with the administration and has the support of the fan base, creating a stable and supportive environment.
Third, Clemson offers a great quality of life for Swinney and his family. The town of Clemson is known for its tight-knit community and family-friendly atmosphere. Swinney has deep roots in the area, having played and coached at Clemson for much of his career. This sense of familiarity and comfort can be a significant factor in his decision-making process.
Additionally, Clemson has a strong recruiting base, particularly in the talent-rich Southeast region. The program consistently attracts top-tier recruits, which has been a key factor in their success. Swinney has proven himself as an excellent recruiter and has built strong relationships with high school coaches in the area.
In conclusion, while Texas A&M may present some enticing factors, Clemson offers Swinney a winning culture, a strong support system, a great quality of life, and a strong recruiting base. These factors, combined with his deep roots in the Clemson community, make a compelling case for him to stay with the Tigers.

1. It’s a better job than Clem. You’re a better team right now, but overall, it’s a better job.
2. If they want him they’ll pay whatever they need to if he’s interested.
3. Doesn’t matter.
4. His recent comments see indicate he views it other way around. You owe him something.
5. Divisions are dead. And if Clem is going to the SEC anyway, he’s not going to get a better opportunity than this if he wants to jump.

Clemson moving to the SEC will instantly make us a better job than A&M. With the added financial support, and the added enticement of competition, recruiting would spike.
While Clemson may never be able to match the Texas financial situation, that move to SEC would at least bring us a lot closer. Therefore, that makes the difference in pay not THAT much different between Clemson in the SEC (and even now) and A&M

You've got a MUCH larger gap than $15-20MM/yr with A&M. It's not even close. I'm not sure recruiting would spike. You've got a differentiator now. Come to Clem and punch your ticket to the CFP. That's a much harder sell in the SEC. Elite guys want to win rings, and Dabo sells the crap out of that on trail. "Hey, come play in the toughest conference in America" isn't a bad pitch. But it's also not a better pitch than what you have now.
What makes A&M better is better facilities, recruiting footprint, virtually unlimited resources, ridiculous NIL support, and they'll have no problems make the HC the highest paid coach in America, along with giving him the highest paid assistants in America. None of that is changed by Clem moving to the SEC for an extra $20MM/yr.
