The Black opportunists groups will always find something to complain about. Same goes for white opportunists and other races who have special interest groups. Neither one of these minority groups will ever be satisfied. They will want more and more and more.
The majority of Blacks, Whites, Mexican, Asian as well as other ethnic groups IMO get along fine and there is little racism. But hate groups on both sides have complained about this or that to keep trouble stirred up between the majority that say live and let live.
If you look at college football there have been many Black HC’s. Look what Kevin Sumlin was given at Texas A&M, Herman Edwards at one of the big Az schools. There are Many Black HC’s in College Sports, the NFL, MLB and the NBA. There are a lot of Black QB’s, mostly Black RB’a and WR’s in all levels of football so what in the He$$ is this guy whining about.
IMO to some it will never be enough! Use you leverage to show athletes we don’t want politics in sports! Don’t watch the games until they get the message.
I meant to include that Dabo regardless of color his earned everything he receives. He makes money for Clemson therefore covering his salary. His assistant coaches do the same.

play football or basketball, while many of the white kids are playing baseball, lacrosse, soccer, golf, tennis, ice hockey, to name of few. So, the white kids are spread out over many different sports, more so than the black kids. I'm not saying that's good or bad, just the way it is, and the reason football and basketball are largely dominated by blacks.

GSC,
I am not going to disagree with you. I have not enough knowledge of those situations to make any meaningful statement.
But I DO think it would be worth investigating. I think that there may be a number of deserving black coaches that have been passed over, at least in part over racial prejudices that still live on in our country. I think it is probably worse in the NFL than in college and I think it is worse at some schools than others. But I do not find it far-fetched that such barriers might exist.

Tobias, I'm no expert but I see unconscious bias as unintentional whereas institutional racism is intentional. However, I think one could argue unconscious bias and institutional racism are not mutually exclusive.

Here’s the issue with this logic...
Dec 19, 2020, 10:23 AM
[ in reply to Re: Another note.. ] |
|
And by “this logic” I mean “here’s an example of how black coaches face a form of bias”...
I didn’t read the article so I am welcome to correction but on the surface it seems to imply that this black coach was deserving of a head coaching job and was passed by because of his race. But do you not think you can come up with hundreds of examples of highly qualified white coaches who never got the opportunity they “deserved”?
Hiring a head coach is more than just a checking of experience boxes. That’s probably why Bud Foster never got a head coaching job.

Pure ignorance. Why even link it here?
Dec 18, 2020, 4:03 PM
|
|
Lol at the idea that assistant coaches are given head coaching jobs because they are white, or that what happened with Dabo was just because of his color, or the fact that he’s won the conference multiple times in the row, gone to the CFP five times in a row and has two national championships doesn’t negate the idea that they just thought “oh here’s a white guy, let’s let him try”, or that there was universal support for Dabo from the get-go or even for the first few years.
Willful ignorance in an attempt to peddle a false narrative. But I listened to it, so I guess good job to him.

This is a perfect example of racism based on ignorance. You can clearly tell the author here has strong biased opinions against white men in general. His contempt of white men has blinded him in this situation as to WHY Dabo got the job. It had nothing to do with his color and everything to do with his character and the way his players respected him. At that point Coach Bowden had lost the entire locker room. All his players abandoned him. Coach Swinney stepped in mid season and turned the whole team around and it was his performance that got him the job. Not his white priveledge. So because of a lack of knowledge pertaining to WHY coach Swinney got the job the author here reverts to his contempt and blames white priveledge without even trying to understand the specific situation. This attitude and held contempt or hate is mostly learned from a young age by adult figures or authority figures black white brown red yellow or whatever color as children grow up and witness people they respect behaving this way. Until we as a society become better examples to the next generation the cycle of racism will continue.

An idiot without context of how Dabo got the job. I understand the need for more POC as HCs and Coord’s, but Dabo has only proven that you don’t have to be a coordinator to win as head coach.

Interesting that his is posted on the LSU fan's page the day prior to early signing day.
Just after we got a commitment from an LSU de-commit.
Dabo has had his job for 12 years now, and obviously has excelled at it. NO one thinks Clemson made a poor choice.
Something fishy about this guy and his timing.

DAbo got the job b/c he was the best recruiter on the staff, was named #1 recruiter in the country that year and had been on that list for years prior. Terry Don didnt' want to see him leave and go to Bama (which was the rumor) or another school and see them flourish and us flounder. It was a risky hire but after he beat Spurrier as the interim coupled with the fact that he was such a greater recruiter and motivator..they took a shot. I know that wasn't all of his intangible but that was a huge reason to keep him as interim. Being white...way down the list...white guys are a dime a dozen.

As a person of intelligence, I am offended by this video.
The Clemson job was a one-off different kettle of fish. The program decided to fire its HC in the middle of the season and they HAD to promote someone from within. So this was hardly a representative hiring situation.
Also, it is rather difficult to question a guy's credentials when he turns a program around and creates a perennial powerhouse. If Dabo had continued to run our program into the ground, then you might be able to claim privilege, but as it stands, this guy has not a leg to stand on.

Lovie Smith got longer than I imagined.
Taggert may have been trying to build whatever at FSU....but I knew they would not have patience. They wanted the rich talent there to speak fast and quick.....it didn't happen...he was gone in barely 2 years.
Everywhere Jim Caldwell went...it turned out to be a short stay. Is he good or is he that bad??
Kevin Sumlin...had a good offense...but didn't have any defense. In Arizona he had a challenge. Even when Rich Rod was there it was a challenge.
It's a challenge either way you look at it......its just that in some cases fate has it where some can get the job done and some can't....and some people or programs don't have or never had patience.

While everyone is entitled to and may voice there opinion, some should just keep it to themselves. Could you imagine if this man isn’t self employed. He’d at best be doing some kind of sensitivity/ racial discrimination training. I’d personally fire him for racism along with the divisive culture he probably spreads at work. I’m surprised at YouTube as well. The man is clearly being racist yet they allow his video to stay up. I wonder why it’s still up allowed to be up???
