Which football team this season do you think will come out of nowhere and have a decent season, and maybe sneak into the top 25 early?

they've got a good bit of talent coming back and a fairly weak schedule in the Coastal from what I recall.

I too was thinking Miami. Al is doing a pretty decent job up there, and they have a young talented QB.
I'd like to see Mike Leach come out of nowhere and get Washington St. near the top 25, haha.

Oregon State returns two experienced QBs, has a really good young RB in Storm Woods, and has a really good and underrated WR in Brandin Cooks.

They are still on probation, but it was only a one year postseason ban.
For all that crap...and all the crap that is still going on up there.

If they think they have a chance for a special season

then they better go all in before the hammer drops on them big time.
I really feel bad for GT. They need to get rid of PJ and get an up and coming spread guy. GT doesn't seem like a bad gig for a young coach with an opporunity to make a name for himself.

Agree, GT seems like it could be a really attractive job given the talent that the Atlanta area produces and the academic reputation of the school. You see schools like Vandy and Stanford using academics to recruit and compete at a high level, don't see why GT couldn't do the same.

I thought the same thing. They are in a talent rich area, and have an ok fan base. Right now with PJ, it is so easy to recruit against him because nobody runs the option anymore, and that is not going to get you to the NFL. GT just needs to bite the bullet and pay him off and start over.

Cut blocking vs. Competitive Cross Division Rival?

I'm in favor of the better football product myself. Granted I LOVE Clemson's recent success, but I do miss the ACC when Bowden was here when you had VT, FSU, Miami, NCST, UNC, BC, GT, ranked in the top 25 and the occassional UVA and Wake in the mix.

Two years ago, they seemed to be on the cusp of success. Last year, they were bad. I think that they pull it together this year and make a run. They have "Smoke" Mizzell coming in, and he should make a difference in the running game. I can see them finishing 8-4 this year.

Duh. As soft a schedule as you will see this year..and they are media darlings after convincingly handing UF its #### in the Sugar Bowl. They run the table they could be in the BCSNCG, no doubt about it. Bridgewater is fantastic ...which helps.

Op dont be mad at me...i neglected to read anything but the headline subject. I assumed we were discussing darkhorse NC contenders. I feel unusually stupid ...or lazy...or both.

I like Purdue. Just a hunch about that team really...no real argument to back it up other than the weakness that is Big Tenleventeen football.

I like Mike Leach too! If his players stop whining and commit to the program, he could do some damage in the Pac-12. He put Texas Tech on the map!
