I'm guessing you haven't seen a basketball game (and probably soccer game) all year long.

I played football at Berkeley HS from 1984-1987 , and wasn't even aware that there was a soccer team until my junior season ...when our kicker asked me to go try out . Soccer is a tremendously athletic sport . My only issue with it is the length of the match ( shorten it by 20 mins ) and take some of the field in to possibly increase scoring , which can be non-existent throughout a match . I think most Americans would enjoy more scoring and less seemingly endless running and chasing about for 70-80 minutes .

It seems like if you wanted more scoring the field should be bigger.

I just googled it , the Major Arena Soccer League is still a thing , and apparently is doing just fine . 14 pt games are not rare , and yes they score it like big boy soccer .

This is not what I thought you meant. I've never even heard of this. But if the fields are smaller I would assume they do not play 11 players. Another thing to think about is artificial surfaces result in a much faster paced game, which would definitely lead to more scoring.

Soccer is ok . I really enjoyed watching the WC last year , and the whole world is into it so that is a cool thing . Alas , I am an American football fan . I don't care for baseball much either , but I love Clemson athletics ....all of it . Who do we play in the National Title Game ?

I honestly don't follow college soccer so I will not pretend to know the answer for you. Stanford was playing much better when I was watching, tho.

I'm still confused. It was entertaining for a few seconds, but is it normal for a offensive struggle.

Unlike soccer fans, basketball fans don't constantly feel the need to tell you how nuanced and sophisticated their sport is while reminding you that it's the fan favorite in third world banana republics everywhere.

I think soccer fans feel the need to defend their sport because of the attacks it gets from "real men". The attacks came before the defending

I haven't made fun of it. I will say it is a college sport that will never catch on in the US with fans. Look at the pathetic attendance for a final four. Same for the second match. Football, basketball, baseball, women's basketball all can fill up a neutral site. College soccer doesn't as most fans are only casually interested in how their team does and not interested at all in other teams.

I agree with you, there. I think part of the attendance problem is the location, though, a college soccer match will never sell out any venue.

literally the farthest spot they could have chosen. And you're right there is not the traveling fanbase to attend.
They should do what tennis does. Tennis rotates ithe NCAAs (the final 16 and on) at a host site that is the home of a certain team. Like this year it was in Waco, is is in Athens a lot, stanford etc. So even if those teams get eliminated, there are still college tennis fans there. The NCAAs in Waco were packed

I'm not a soccer-hater by any stretch but I definitely think there should be a soccer board on Tigernet to post on for the avid soccer fans. Or at least a moderator that moves topics to the appropriate board when they're posted.
I think half the flames come from the fact that people are talking about basketball & soccer on the football board. At least I'd like to think that's the reason.
