So I mentioned in my deer wars thread that I was encouraged to send back an actual electric fence energizer. To be fair to my wife, it was not the greatest long-term solution with little kids in the neighborhood, including my own.

But, what if I just wanted a temporary solution to uh...send a message. And let's say I have a golf cart battery. Can I hook a pair of jumper cables to aluminum wire? Or do I need to hook the red to the wire, and black to something else?

And should this work, how long would that battery last?

you just need to get the energizer and an outdoor timer and plug in to outlet.

Set timer to 9 p.m. Make sure it works by placing electrified clamp on bawlsack.

Either the aluminum wire will melt or you'll just ruin the cells in the battery.

You need more resistance than just dead shorting the battery.

Would a drip charger work instead of this?

Well, you could plug in an extension cord with the one end cut off

Connect the extension chord to two bare parallel wires around your flowers. Connect the neutral white wire on the lower wire and the black hot wire higher.

When the deer touches the top and bottom wires at once, they'll jump out of there and tear everything up getting out.

And I prob wouldn't plug it in when it rains.

The battery to the fence. The fence Energizer steps up the voltage to a few kV in order to shock an animal.
