Anybody think we lose recruits...

Being in the ACC? Yes, of course we do.
I'm sure we would lose some if we joined the Big 12. Not sure this is a valid argument against leaving though. We lose recruits to teams violating NCAA rules... Do we start breaking rules?

or, you could look at it this way, they say they want to play in the sec because that is what they know, being from (mostly) the southeast. if we joined the big12, and brought them into the region, they would get to have the choice of two powerful football conf's, not ruling us out because they look at the acc as weak.

around objections selling the Big12ish. good luck with that in the southeast.
i guess it's why you see so few of our recruits interested in tejas and ou? they don't need them, they don't want to waste their breathe, they have better things to do with their time?
SEC is THE big dawg on the block after winning 6 titles in a row? the big12ish champ got passed over in the title game for a team that didn't even win their conference and you want to go play half way across the united states in ames?
good luck with that jonny5star.

you think we get an invite to the sec? i don't. the acc isn't getting any better at the present time. give me the big12 with an eastern flavor and i'll drink to that. where does big12 have a geographic location in it's name?unlike the acc,sec,pac12, etc.

What about Texas recruits and other recruits from that region that we acquire? Our OC and DC are from that area and have strong ties. It's a wash IMO, and the Clemson brand is what ultimately sells.

texas 858-333-34 vs. 'bama 840-320-43; ou 819-310-53 vs.tenn. 794-347-54 thats the top 2 in each. it goes pretty tight all the way through the top 5 (counting wvu,and i added clemson) between the sec and big12. it would be a good battle for superiority.

Why, it's Texas, the Bestest state ever...

You'll get to play Texas, travel to Texas (by plane, of course), and soak in all that's Texas.
I'm with you. The Big 12 is 2 programs and then everybody else. OSU & Texas Tech have made some noise in recent years. But that doesn't signal anything other than Texas and/or OU not living up to their potential.
I think Clemson/FSU are looking for a drastic solution to a short-term problem. The problem is that the ACC hasn't performed on the field in a time when the economy is down, and that's temporarily put us at a disadvantage in TV contracts. The economy will slowly outgrow our problems, and eventually someone will step up in this conference. Once that happens, our financial situation looks better.
But there's been a panic with some people. And I think it looks very likely that Clemson & FSU are gone. But unless they're joined by 3 or 4 more current ACC programs, they'll regret the move.

Every school loses recruits, whether they are in the ACC,SEC,Big 12,,the Big 10,or the Big East. A school can also lose a recruit to academic reasons(aka Mike Bellamy),or for violating team rules. A school could lose a prized recruit because the school has too many recruits wanting to play that position. No ,you don't start breaking the rules. You make an honest sincere pitch to these recruits and their parents, and hope they choose your school.

Anyone who thinks we lose recruits now...

All will be trashed for the lure of the 'dirty lucre'. Anyone who thinks we lose recruits now, just wait and see how hard it will be to recruit if we move to the Big 12. Now, of course, we lose recruits to both SEC and ACC teams but they also lose some to us. The reasoning is dead wrong that we should leave the ACC. Not only will we have no recruitng base in the Big 12 but we will lose much of the draw and appeal that we have in our present recruiting areas. Then our greatest appeal for recruits will rely our educational reputation alone. The surest way to weaken our athletics against others (including SC)would be to leave the ACC. Our history and traditions in football will be long gone.
