Clemson has tons of NIL money and that's never the reason for not getting a recruit or a portal player? And Clemson should not be outbid for a player or recruit? And how do you know this?

of the oldest legal fundraising entities for college sports. You're talking about people who have been IPTAY since their youth and many generational members. No one is trying to say Clemson is poor, we're just saying you don't buy a pig in a poke.
We spend a ton of money looking into the athletic and academic backgrounds of our recruits while paying just as much attention to their history which reveals the character within.
What you transfer portal fans misplace is any insight into the opportunity cost of spending time looking at people who very unlikely to have been recruited by Clemson when they left high school and nothing has changed other than they now feel they made a mistake by taking the offers they took then.
Rather than searching the portal Dabo feels his best investment is spending resources collecting data on those who will spend 3-5 years here rather than one.
For the very most stupid let me put it this way. You can spend a million dollars finding and recruiting a player to play here One year when you can cull through twenty and find one who will give Clemson the same results in three years while supporting starters for no less than two years.
It's freaking economics, stupid!

I know you're being sarcastic but there really aren't many good QBs in the portal at this point. Maybe Leonard or Mccall would give Cade a real battle for the job but I don't see anyone else in the portal as a game changing qb or having as high a ceiling as Cade. Alot of hate on a first year starter in a new system with a beat up and pedestrian WR Corp and a mess of an OL.

Not need to, but we have to. Based on numbers, we only have 2 scholarship QBs heading into spring. Dabo is gonna have to take someone who xan add value. Taking someone just to chart plays is a waste of time!

To advertise they will pay that or to tell boosters that is where the market is at so they need to contribute that amount.
