I believe USF has a crowded QB room already. I think the bigger question is if Scott intends to utilize the transfer portal at all. Dabo has never done it and, as far as I know, has always been again JUCO transfers. If Scott is trying to build a culture, he'll want to start with what he has today, and build it through recruiting (not transfers).

USF is a group of 5 stepping stone school

Sad to say it, but its not a place to set roots for ambitious coaches. Its a place to show your talents and leave better than when you got there. Even the AD understands that. If it was any Power 5 school building a culture would definitely be the right route, but I don't think thats coach Scotts long term aspersion.

Wouldn't he want to display how he built a culture of winning? He would also want to demonstrate that he's able to recruit great players into his program. I think Jeff Scott is going down there to build a winning program the right way, as he learned at the feet of the master.
He'll be getting $2M+ per year to build that program too. It may be viewed as a stepping stone, but it's a legitimate big time job. And he won't get a shot at a P5 HC job if he fails here.

Really good point from your post. Also, I think if Jeff started bringing in other players right away it could cause problems with some of Coach Scott’s goals and may cause some hard feelings between CS, his staff and his new team.
I hate that he left but I will be pulling for USF every time they play unless they play Clemson.
God Bless and Best to you and your family Coach Scott. Thank you for the great memories and the many positive contributions you, your wife and your Dad made to CLEMSON during your time at CU!

Yeah, on the other hand, what better way to start transferring the Clemson culture to USF than taking a great talent and leader like Chase with you from the jump.
This also presents an interesting dynamic going forward for us (possibly). We keep recruiting all of these 5 star QBs with only one being able to start and that tends to stay stable year to year. They keep coming here, redshirt, learn from the best, win a Natty or two, and work on graduating early so that if they don't earn a starting spot, they can transfer with two years to start somewhere else.

If Brice chooses to leave I believe that he would have the blessing of most Tiger fans. He could be a starter at South Fla. With the talent, we have at QB and the California kid coming to town, playing time will be at a premium. Brice has been an asset to Clemson. I hope he stays but his future belongs to him.

regardless of whether he stays or goes after this season. He has 2 years of play left and can transfer now without penalty with a degree. If he doesn't have it yet he likely would by next May.
Spending another year with Streeter and Dabo, plus Grisham now and Elliott, with all those frisbee catching dogs in the outfield no matter when you come in the game - there's a lot to like for sticking around another year and still having 1 left after that. It's a crowded backfield, though, and no doubt Dabo is going to rep his young guns in practice and games.
I thought Typo the freshman looked great in his few gigs at QB this year. He will likely get a redshirt now at 3 games and hopefully he won't be called on in the CFP, but I guess he'll travel with the team. He looks natural and will definitely be a great battle with DJ for lead guy under TL16 next season. The power hours will pay great benefits for him all over heading into next year.
As Coach Scott would tweet, "Great day to be a Tiger."

WOW, that is an interesting thought. He's got two years left, right ? Can he go now as a graduate transfer and play both in Florida ?
