Anyone considered this as to why we aren't matching offers of HS recruits

This was going to be a really small recruiting class anyway and next year's squad is going to be a very veteran group. Could it be that Dabo sees next year as one of our best chances in a while for a title considering we have a veteran QB that's actually good. As a result, he's going "All-In" next year and decided that instead of paying up for recruits, he would use that money to pay up in the transfer portal for a couple of top guys to maximize our chances of winning now. Next year will be the best time in the NIL era for us to pay for a few 1- years mercenaries.

season, when direct Pay for Play comes into effect. If all the peoples that keep yammering for us to go on a Shopping Spree in the Tranfer Portal would just have a little patience, a new paradigm is on the horizon.

Then Tiger Nation would respond with money overflowing.
But alas, that won't happen. He isn't going to support NIL for freshman. They have to want to come here. That happens with a few. Unfortunately, CDS doesn't play the Free Agency game.
He's banking on revenue sharing.
But the million dollar question is, will we be competitive? I don't know. Our competitors will be doing the same and we tend to fall behind.

Maybe he said that and maybe he didn't, but we definitely improved our initial offer to keep Amare Adams in the fold. Teams were coming for him hard about a month ago before we put that fire out. He was definitely about to flip too.

I'd be surprised. We probably will go through the 25 season with a smaller roster. So injuries will continue to be a real concern.

This idea of potentially using the money for transfer portal guys may also be used as a pitch to keep our top current plays from being poached (ie. Woods, Parker, etc.) or turning pro (ie. A. Williams, B. Miller, etc.). It could be Dabo's way of showing them his commitment to winning and providing them with the best chance to go out next year on top.

In general, if the choice is between paying more to transfer "in" someone with collegiate tape that's in the portal vs. paying 'more than you're comfortable with' for a high schooler with none, the smart money is on the transfer portal player.
So, hopefully, to your point, Clemson does dip its toes into the Portal to fill roster gaps, including those made by players presently on the roster who inevitably exit via the portal.

I'm not sure about that. The offense should be better next year but the defense IMHO will be worse next year regardless of who the DC is. We will lose several guys and we don't have quality backs replacing them.
