Swinney says his coaching tree now has twig with USF's hiring Jeff Scott

Dabo Swinney’s coaching tree is starting out like a twig with the hiring of Jeff Scott at South Florida. Scott, Clemson’s former co-offensive coordinator, and wide receivers coach was named the fifth head coach in South Florida history Monday. Swinney said that he knew as early as last week that Scott was the front-runner to become the top Bull. Full Story »

Do not discount the huge contribution that Brad Scott made to Clemson. With all the years he was at FSU and then South Carolina, he gave immediate high school contact with coaches all the South.

Columbia proved they are idiots. Not only did they fire the first coach to ever win them a bowl game, they pretty much burned their bridges at the time with all the "Fat Brad" rhetoric. So, all that knowledge and connections with Florida high school coaches and talent was lost to them forever.

Forever Stupid to Thee!

Could He Count Morris though?

Dec 13, 2019, 5:38 PM

I don't think he counts Morris because he was already established. It would be about like claiming Venables as being part of your coaching tree.

I am with you: I hope it never gets to be anymore than a bush, LOL!

He has done a fantastic job of hiring the right people to date(Coach Swinney has). Even some guys who are still analyst currently.

Morris was certainly not established

He was only a few years removed from high school football when he joined Clemson
