this is believed to be the unconfirmed record, but they got hunted to near extinction because they were mistakenly thought to be dangerous to people.. They are making a comeback.

lol, fortunately the water is too clear for the gators, but I have been in the water with tons of them and they are more afraid of you. Well, unless you are unlucky enough stumble across a 10 footer, and all bets are off.
