Pure straight-up objectivity.
This is exactly what I mean when I say either your principles aren't nearly as firm as you think, or they're not nearly as pro-liberty as you want to believe. If you think curtailing civil liberties is a necessary good to fight against X (which is Dreher's premise that Orban is doing what he must to protect Hungary from European liberalism), you don't actually believe in the supremacy and sanctity of individual freedom. There may be some wiggle room here and there for (expedience sake, let's use this term) "reasonable" limitations, but Orban has gone far, far beyond what any pro-liberty person would call reasonable.
Even in the U.S., his goons attacked dissidents. There is no defense of Orban by anybody claiming to believe in human freedom, and there certainly is no reason why CPAC should go out of its way to invite him to speak.
