If we were undefeated this year and Hunter Helms was our 3rd string and now starting QB I would be not only happy we didn’t make the playoffs vs Bama, Washington, or Michigan I would be GRATEFUL I didn’t have to watch my Tigers get their ### beat on prime time tv with the entire nation watching. ANYONE and I mean ANYONE that thinks FSU not making this playoff is going to effect clemson missing or making a Playoff game in the future is a idiot. First next year it’s 12 teams which by my math makes it 3x more likely we could make the playoffs with 12 teams with also the conference champions automatically in makes it very easy. F the Criminoles they deserve it for 2020 ######## calling in sick to work that Saturday. I need a refund for buying tickets that’s day,

This x 1000! I don’t give two cents about FSU. I do care that this “committee” just delegitimized the very conference we play in and any accomplishments we achieve. We are effectively playing thin the Sun Belt Conference now.

(regardless of record) gets an automatic playoff bid?? How exactly is this "what could happen to us" if Clemson is the undefeated ACC Champion in the 12 team CFP format that starts next season??
The short answer is won't/can't happen to us because of the ACC Champion's automatic CFP bid written into the new 12 team CFP format. All this gnashing of teeth, pearl clutching, and outrage on the behalf of FSU is making a mountain out of a mole hill from a "one off" situation on behalf of a POS coach (Norvell) and his transfer portal wonder team.

FSU goes undefeated leaving Clemson at 11-1 with no conference championship. No guarantees. And a committee that clearly wants as much SEC/B1G action as possible.

The are the two year running reigning national champs and had won 29 games in a row and only lost one game by 3 points - yet they are out of it and I'm good with it.
In the scenario you lay out - Clemson 11-1 and not a conference champion is NOT what has happened to FSU so it wouldn't be a case of "it could happen to us"...
Bottom line - Clemson has to take care of our business and win the darned league. For the past 10 years we've had a good record of doing that and I see no reason with the right assistant coaching hires we can't return to our dominance of the ACC. If we don't win the ACC then we are putting our fate in other people's hands and must live by the decisions they make.

You are clearly misunderstanding my point. Bias within the selection committee is a BAD THING. You can keep your stiff upper lip with “Clemson has to take care of our business” all you want but when the committee is deciding the 12th and 13th spots, and gives an SEC team with nearly the exact same credentials (or maybe worse) the 12th spot over us, you’ll be singing a different tune…or at least you should if you care anything about Clemson being treated on a fair stage.

grief guys - the mental gymnastics of this "CFP Committee is in the pockets of the SEC/BIG10 and is doing ESPN's bidding" conspiracy garbage is beyond the point of ridiculous.
Look at the current CFP 13 Committee members:
Chis Ault - Retired head coach at Nevada where he spent most of his career
Mitch Barnhart - AD at Kentucky
Boo Corrigan - AD NC State
Chet Gladchuk - AD Navy Academy
Jim Grobe - Retired head coach of Wake Forest, Baylor and numerous other non SEC/Big10 schools
Mark Harlan - AD Utah
Warde Manuel - AD Michigan
David Sayler - AD Miami of Ohio
Will Shields - retired football player - Pro Football Hall of Fame player who graduated from Nebraska in 1993
Gene Taylor - AD Kansas State
Joe Taylor - Former head coach of numerous HBC institutions
Rod West - Group President, Utility Operations for Entergy Corporation with degrees from Notre Dame and Tulane
Kelly Whiteside - Professor, Montclair State University with degrees from Columbia and Rutgers
So.... how many of these folks are corrupting the CFP Committee and are part of the evil SEC/Big10/ESPN cabal that is out to get the ACC and ensure only the SEC/Big10 play in the CFP??

Maybe it is time for you to learn what character and doing the right thing is. This committee was a bunch of buffoons with no character.
NEVER!!! Has this happened in the CFP and to a program with an Elite football history nonetheless.
I will call out an injustice when I see it. This was a pathetic decision. Go pull for the Coots and the SEC.

but they will happily put B1G and SEC teams in the playoff ahead of us if we don't win the ACC in any given year, and we will have to be perfect to get the bye (which will be an ENORMOUS advantage) while SEC teams and B1G teams will get at least one mulligan every year.
If you don't see how much more difficult our path is vs. SEC and B1G teams now, you're blind and beyond help.

A team should NOT be punished for losing a key player. That makes no sense. Ok, so maybe they aren’t quite as good, and? They earned the right to be in the playoff, including two wins with backup QBs.

Agree, it shouldn’t be up to the committee to project a good or subpar team because of personnel missing a few games. FSU is undefeated. Put them in the playoff and let the game outcome decide who wins and who doesn’t. Not the committee’s decision.

College football has lost a lot of its traditions, its regional appeal, proud conferences with amazing histories have entirely crumbled into dust and now its abandoned legitimacy so that Disney can make marginally more money than they would have otherwise.

That sucked I totally agree. Now different HC and AD. But this is what I would do to UGA in FSU’s BG. This was not just about FSU. It was about the ACC too !!! It’s about Bama bullying their way into CFP’s. It’s a power struggle we will lose due to the difference in revenues.
We thought the last 2 years were chaotic. The Chaos is just getting started. By the end of next season we want be able to tolerate the changes and the chaos ! Especially the old school guys, which I am proud to be a part of.
