I would go after this guy to play the 5 and have PJ at the 4. Shot blocking 7 footer with PJ at the 4 stepping out to make 3's.
"Utah Valley center Aziz Bandaogo will enter the NCAA transfer portal, he told ESPN. Bandaogo immediately vaults to the top of the big man market in the college basketball transfer portal. Bandaogo was the anchor of the Utah Valley squad that advanced to the NIT semifinals. Bandaogo averaged 11.5 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. Bandaogo finished with 104 blocks –– third-most in college basketball last season –– and he owned the 29th-best block percentage (8.6%)."
Would by a significant upgrade of Middlebrooks

We haven’t had a rim protector since Elijah Thomas. Godfrey can block shots at his position but it would be nice to have a rim protector

I can't imagine him playing underneath in the NBA.

Maybe I'm way off here, but I don't think he has the body or athleticism to bang underneath with the behemoths and freaks in the NBA. I see his role there being strictly as a mid-long range shooter.

Might not be an NBA player, but the last I checked Clemson is not in the NBA. We need good college players.

So no, I don't think PJ benefits at all from playing a position he will never play in the NBA, which I'm sure he has his sights on. Again, I could be way off, just my take.

So, you think keeping PJ at the 5 is better than bringing in a true center and moving him to the 4?

Do you think PJ will be an effective 4 or 5 in the NBA?

I think PJ is a tweener of sorts. Not big and physical and athletic enough to bang underneath in the NBA, which he can do little about; and so far, not quick and accurate enough to be an effective 3. However, if he really develops his shot, and works on shooting off the dribble, I think that's where his best chance is going forward in today's game.
