ACC

I'm not going to lie. I am torn. Part of me longs for the nostalgia and pageantry of college football as I knew it for most of my 52 years. But, I also relish the recent and continued domination by my beloved Clemson Tigers. I want to remain on top. But, I wish it could be done while remaining in the ACC. My head tells me I can't have both. My heart says keep the status quo and let the chips fall where they may. I could live with winning another Natty this year and then Dabo telling the world we are going to do it the Clemson way and bloom where we are planted. I don't know what will happen, but I am dreading the inevitable ruining of a sport that has provided me with so much joy for such a long period of time. Go Tigers

Whatever happens, I want to see my Tigers play in THE VALLEY!

Go Tigers AND stay well Tiger Nation!

2015. Great game, first game ever as #1 rated home field team in the valley. Tear to my eye

Having 3 National Titles makes anything else gravy. It is

like a golfer with three green jackets, or an actor with three Oscars. Would like to win another, will work hard to win another, but if they never do anything else, they have made their mark, have nothing to prove, and can not be discredited by anyone. So just have fun with football. Anything else is icing on the cake.

I don't give a #### about you, or the ####### ######## you start. You are a miserable piece of #### and I will just tell you to go #### yourself everyday, when I feel like taking the time to type it. I don't even take note of you until you look for me and my threads. But since you are hung up on me, and seem to seek me out, I'll take the time right now to tell you to go screw yourself.

Quick question, do you and 1972 Tiger BBQ together?

Also, what should I bring besides soliciting the comedy you provide? 😂 😘

There is nothing wrong with football and nothing wrong with Clemson football. Nothing has changed in the game and the best team will come out on top. For us to have a chance to get back to the Playoffs, we need to be in the ACC.

Do you live under a rock?

Transfer portal, NIL, conference realignments and not all of the realigning makes any sense ( USC, UCLA) and possibly Washington and Oregon. Tell us what is trending positively that will insure what we have enjoyed for the last 1/2 century will continue.

…. whether you like it or not. There is zero reason for Clemson not to remain in the elite of college football. The amount of money the school spends on football speaks to the desire by the school and Fanbase to want to win more titles.

Very proud of our past accomplishments, but as Dabo says… that was in the past. Looking forward to the future and winning more titles. In my opinion, that will be very very very hard to do if very mediocre schools are out earning us by $30M+ annually. II see absolutely nothing that the ACC has proposed that comes even close to helping close the gap over the next decade.

For the trillionth time, Dabo has already said where this is going and that Clemson will have a front row seat.
Enjoy the ride my tiger friends…

It is not as bad as you think. It’s been proven even in the playoff era that you can’t win a championship without a great coach with a truly good program as far as culture and chemistry.

Money does not guarantee a thing. The only thing it guarantees is more money. The more they can get out of TV and fans, they’ll do it. It’s the world we live in. But just look at Texas A&M and Miami, and Texas, they still haven’t won jack.

The passion for college football won’t go away though. People still care about their schools. College football teams are not professional entities that pay players. They are forced to participate in school. This is one reason that impacts players’ decisions. They don’t want to come do hard school work at Clemson and be accounted for it.

And my advice would be to just expect the best out of every season. Expect a national championship because that’s our standard. Besides, if we don’t do it, then you appreciate the greatest parts of the season. There will always be great games in the Valley, even if for some reason we still decline. Clemson’s a stamped brand in college football. We have greatness in our history now, and even before Dabo we were still kind of a top brand.

The deal with the money is keeping up financially with coaching salaries and the arms race for the best of the best in facilities.

Great coaches require a lot of money and top recruits want the best facilities. We could get behind on both fronts rather quickly. Although for us to get behind in coaching salaries would be stupid money seeing Clemson compensates their coaches very well at the moment.

Many people would rather have Clemson finance all the things necessary to run a top-notch athletics program with increased TV money than asking for substantially more money every year from IPTAY members.

Domination? You realize that Clemson has not won a national championship in the last five years, right? Also, we lost to South Carolina last year. One good thing about moving to the SEC, is we will get to see once and for all if Clemson is dominating football program. We have had it too easy.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to continue playing in a basketball conference when the best football in America is on our doorstep. "Would you like a large sum of money to watch the Nations best football?" Yes. Please.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe Im an oddball here, but

1

I just dont really get the "history and tradition" angle from folks that say they will miss the ACC. Are you referring to those rousing matchups on Jefferson Pilot against wake, duke, uva, ncst, etc? Teams that have never truly been nor ever will be any good at football? The history and tradition part belongs against teams like FSU and UGA, teams we will continue play, if not more so, if we join the sec. Much better matchups and exciting road games in store once we get free of this miserable excuse for a conference.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Amen to that!

Unfortunately, the sport has already been severely battered and perhaps ruined. I know I have lost enthusiasm for it. I hope it returns. I have been a true fanatic for all Clemson sports. The nil and portal have damaged Football. Defense of 13 years of mediocrity has hurt basketball. Baseball is on upswing. Softball is exciting. New sports are doing well.
Football drives so many things and sports for Clemson. If we move Conferences- I hope we go to BIG - as I hate the sec. Plus the sec academics are pretty sad. We cannot stay in the ACC as it currently stands. Money difference is just too great.
