A lot of people thinking BigXII is going to be the 3rd Power

...conference but they just basically ran the ACCs playbook by adding the teams they did. BYU, UCF, Houston... Syracuse, BC, Pitt...
Am I seeing this wrong?

They added worse teams than the ACC did. Big XII is the new AAC

Well the ACC did take Louisville which was basically an AAC team for the year prior to joining. They had been Big East for a few years prior though before the Big East leftovers were absorbed into the AAC.

If you look at the top to bottom strength of the Big12 v the ACC in football, basketball and baseball, the Big12 is stronger now. Top to bottom, not just top. The ACC desperately needs to flip one of Texas schools and things totally change because of tv markets.

The Big 12's new deal is comparable to the ACC's deal through 2036 so I don't really think they have pulled ahead. They likely have more depth but the ACC has bigger brands at the top. I would put both clearly in tier 2 with the question of are they okay with that.

Could the Big 12 and the ACC combine? Would it become a relevant super conference?

Big Ten won't take us and UofSC will block us going to the SEC.

SCAR certainly won't have a thing to do with blocking us.

There is world of difference between the ACC and the SEC leadership esp Swofford. No bickering in public.

With the new additions, it would take 5. Watch though, every vote brought to the SEC floor is unanimous. Details are worked out behind closed doors. Also the SEC has had several great commissioners. If an addition brings additional revenue, teams will be added. Everybody wants more money.
