Smith was set to make $170k this year, so I suspect $225k is their total (prior to any bonuses).
It’s mirrored contracts, so it’s $225k each with same bonus criteria.

With the Hernesman’s. But that was from Northwestern State which was a huge stretch from Clemson.

True. But imo it was kinda a Clemson old school thinking hiring practices. Like hiring Brownell and Monte. They were mid major, flash in the pan hires. The shinny new toy so to speak.
I think Neff has taken a different approach. Much more methodical and best fit for Clemson in general. And, thanks to Dabo, Clemson's athletics are a premier destination now. We owe Dabo a lot.

Let me assure you of one thing. Prior to Graham Neff, when it came to hiring coaches for our women’s teams and some of our men’s teams, hire cheap as possible. The jokes of vball husband/wife from Div III, former player bball wmn bball coach, track.

Their credentials are amazing. She has served as a judge. They both are seasoned coaches - coached Olympians!
Never been east or South from their biographies on Cal website. Let’s get the sweet tea, fresh peaches and Circle M barbecue ready!

For months, I have been reading about Cal's athletics having financial problems. If I were a coach, I'd be looking for greener pastures as well.

Cal is a rival? That takes more than being in the same conference.
We did pretty well with football staff from rival coots. Maybe not directly hired away, but no doubting what the Scotts did at Clemson. I thought it was pretty awesome to flog them with coaches they pitched overboard.

Looking forward to gymnastists that can improve across all 4 apparatus. Smith’s coaching on floor was commendable, but beam and bars wasn’t great so thus the ceiling of 196-ish meet scores was the ceiling. This tandem will recruit very well for Clemson. I suspect we see results pretty quickly.
