Am I the only one that's happy about NC losing events?

We are getting an NCAA tournament in Greenville, and Tobacco Road gets screwed. It doesn't matter where the football game is being played, we will win.
I love seeing Swoffies home state get screwed.
As for the bathroom law, is NC any safer than every other state? I don't see perverts rushing to the women's bathrooms in every state without laws. Their state decided on a pointless law that addresses something that was never an issue.

And Swoffy dislikes the area since it is just as likely to be populated by Ohio State fans as UNC fans. If Raycom were not there he would move the game permanently...probably to some small stadium in the Raleigh area.

If revenue is lost for holding on to some level of decency and morality, so be it. There have to be line somewhere. I don't hate the LGTQMNOP, or whatever term they want to add this week, but my goodness, it's pretty simple. Why did they have to make it oh so difficult?

It is a no win situation. Many guys have said they would kill a man that walks into a girls bathroom with their daughter in there. North Carolina's law forces a woman that became a man to use the women's bathroom.
You can't tell me that dad is going to be thankful that trans man is using the women's bathroom.
I attached a pic of a female that became a man. Tell me what your reaction would be to that person using a women's bathroom while little girls are in there. Keep in mind NC law would force that person to use the women's bathroom.

If my wife or daughter were in that bathroom, then that dude/whatever would have to hold it until they came out. Otherwise, one of us would go to the hospital/morgue. It's pretty plain and simple to me.

You are right, that ####### would not be unwelcome in a mens public restroom.
However, it was the mayor of Charlotte that made the law saying there are no bathroom rules when there was no controversy to begin with. This law applied not only to public places, but all businesses in the area.
The legislature then extrapelated the issue into a problem where any drunk frat boy could enter a girls restroom at will, claiming they identified as a woman, possibly harassing the females. As I said before, it was a problem that really did not exist to begin with, but the Pandora's box was opened.
Honestly, I think if you are a man or a woman who identifies as a man, then you use the mens restroom. If you are a man that identifies as a woman and you have had made the change where you would be identified at a glance as a woman, then you can use the Womens restroom. I realize there is some slight room for interpretation there, but the intent should be clear.
Either way, Swoffy had NO right to move the event based on his political preference. The ACC bylaws have a clause that says as much.
The bill has taken away a lot of money from the area, but it apparently has not had the full affect that was projected as many entertainment dollars have shifted into areas that actually are more beneficial to the local economy. Brian Adams may not get his money from a concert but that money is still spent, most likely in a more localized way.

That's not necessarily true. In North Carolina you can get your birth certificate changed from male to female or vice versa. I would think that a trans person would have this changed if living in North Carolina.

The North Carolina law doesn't force anyone to do anything, except in state-owned bathrooms, which is a tiny fraction of bathrooms. Private businesses can choose whatever they want. The Charlotte law that was overturned forced all businesses to let anyone in any bathroom regardless of the preferences of the owner.
My business has a unisex bathroom so it doesn't effect me, but I support the right of others to decide their own bathroom policies.
And if a person "becomes a man" then they can use the bathroom that matches their new ########. The law just tries to avoid guys simply claiming to identify as women just so they can be around little girls when they are exposed and using the bathroom. You do understand there are millions of sexual predators in this country right? There are hundreds of thousands of sexual assaults on children every year. I've never seen one either, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.

They're still using the bathroom with their preferred targets so the law is only effective against opposite sex pedophiles. They already have laws dealing with pedophiles. Wrong. I'm not a Christian and I'm not a republican. I'm a pro-gay marriage, libertarian, and I have no problem with the law because it allows businesses to decide how their will work.
I want to protect the right of business on either side. The Charlotte law, which started this whole thing, forced all businesses to behave a certain way based on a minority moral stance.

As a fellow libertarian I will say the protection of personal liberties (like urinating) is more important to the libertarian platform than the rights of Businesses to do what they please

follow their particular moral stance is libertarian.
Being a libertarian means you want to shift government decisions over to the private sector and the household. Families/individuals should have the right to choose businesses that handle this issue in the way they see fit.
The NC law allows a business to decide. The Charlotte law did not. Libertarians have to live with the things about freedom that they don't agree with.
NC law is smaller government than the Charlotte law.
NC Las leaves people alone by allowing businesses to do as they please. Charlotte law says everyone must conform to one way of thinking.

girls bathrooms at yogurt places. Someone would do something about it. If we all give ourselves PC lobotomies we are asking to be shocked by additional sex-crime shenanigans even beyond what we see already.
Vigilance requires some amount of common sense.
If we are being rational, we would see an average dude walking into a girls bathroom as probably troubling.
If we all decide that its more important to give everyone the benefit of the doubt on their latest gender identity then there is never a scenario in which a parent could socially-justifiably be concerned about who just walked into the same bathroom as their child.
As a parent, I would prefer places that didn't let anyone into any bathroom. I'd either prefer single-occupancy unisex bathrooms or enforced gender bathrooms.
Why don't you walk into a woman's bathroom at target and explain you identify as a woman. Try it in New York and you may be fine. Try it in South Carolina and you may have an issue.

....this by REQUIRING that any PRIVATE business open up the bathrooms or be fined. What HB2 did was say that a city cannot force a private business to open its bathrooms. The irony is BofA Stadium says come on in.
BofA Stadium and BB&T Ballpark would be fantastic venues for the ACC. All cancelled for political correctness.

I have always been of the opinion that sex crimes DO NOT occur in public restrooms. What are we trying to protect?
I am 75 years old and have been in public restrooms on thousands and thousands of occasions and I can't recall a single incident ever happening that upset me. I would guess that most perverted acts, especially with youngsters, happens in the safety of a persons home.

Not to be argumentative, but I disagree. When I was a kid one of my best friends was violated in a Mall bathroom by an adult man/sick pervert. This wasn't in New York, Chicago, or L.A. but rather in SC. And it happens a lot, per friends who work on police departments. Public restrooms are a haven for perverts. Not saying that being gay or whatever makes you commit these heinous acts, but public restrooms are not a safe place, and I wish more parents understood that. Yes, sooner or later you have to let them leave the nest, but until that time, be vigilant.

...I would be upset with the City Council. They orchestrated everything starting two years ago...then this year, forced the gender/bathroom issue and NC into the limelight of media attention. From the article below:

You don't see the NCAA pulling out of all those other states - talk about hypocrisy...when will the NCAA apply their supporting views to their own women's athletics departments?
I'll bet the NCAA (& ACC) loses millions over this whole issue!

advantage" for Clemson. Seems like I recall them saying it was like a home game for Clemson. This knowing the ACC Basketball is always in Greensboro. Then the whole mess with the flag and all those years of nothing in South Carolina. Swoffords reply to the LBGT thing was to assure they had bathroom facilities and not move it from North Carolina. He extended no such options or courtesies to other states. I feel no remorse for North Carolina. I do wish that sports would stay out of politics and vice versa.

Their are certain things that conservatives want the government in peoples lives for. Most of it is about fear mongering and surveillance, drug control, etc. Not saying its bad for that but its too much. People shouldn't go to jail for having an ounce of weed.

That's regulation. And a country that can tell you what you can and can't do with your body is a country that has the power to take your property and guns.
Look at the conservative burning flag movement. They want to increase regulation on burning flags. Make it a crime..... I might be wrong but a free country would probably allow you to burn a flag.
Liberals and conservatives want regulations when it's for something they disagree with.....

The Charlotte bill was morality police by forcing businesses to comply with one side's idea of morality.
The State law lets businesses decide. The NC law is more libertarian than the law it was meant to supercede.
I'm pro-gay marriage but I'm totally fine with the NC law.

North Carolina took a stand. Standing for something has consequences.
Even losing a football game venue.
Swofford and tobacco road mean nothing to me. I lived in Mt. Pleasant
for four years and was proud to be a part of the
Palmetto State and rich proud history of South Carolina!

isn't a stand at all. It's straw, wasted, unenforceable. B/c in essence, you can't really tell who's LBGTQ anyway, when you get down to it. People just walk in and out of br's and nobody notices too much. So it's a wasted decision in terms of revenue lost.

same way. The law had zero enforcement mechanism and, in fact, probably wouldn't pass constitutional muster should it be challenged with SCOTUS. I mostly love that businesses and organizations threatened to go, NC kept the ridiculous law intact, and everybody gave NC the middle finger and took all the economic impact dollars with them while NC looks foolish.
Everybody else benefits from their political blunder and I find it extremely entertaining.
