In my mind, if your team doesnt make the playoffs, any bowl game after the season, just doesn’t matter anymore.
Go Tigers! Best is the standard!

I think you’re absolutely correct. If the program is on our level, anything short of playoff (maybe NY-6) is a huge disappointment. Rebuilding teams (see 2018 FSU) would/should be happy with Gator/Peach or better. Of course, some are ecstatic to play after Christmas (see Scar). I like our lofty view of the CFB landscape and will enjoy the ride until the balloon needs more air.

Nope. But I also was never a fan of the old bowl system either. Exhibition games with trophies, except for the national championship. It’s even more that way now - if you’re not playing for the natty, what’s the point? A vacation for the team? That’s not enough to justify the non-playoff games IMO.

They matter to me. There is no doubt that all of us would prefer to be in the play-off, but that just is not possible every year. What I like about bowl season is the matchups between teams who never, or rarely, play against each other.
From the coaches and players perspective, the additional practices and experience is good for our players of the future.

Some fans who are young and spoiled don’t have a clue! Try finishing outside of a bowl game like 2-9 in 1975! While I certainly want success every season I am realistic enough to know Clemson could be experiencing what FSU is this year. Count our blessings and enjoy whatever the outcome because it has been long in coming since Coach Ford’s tenure.
Life has more priorities than just college football and while I don’t like losing, I also know life isn’t always fair. Fans need to take matters one game at a time. None of us are promised tomorrow.
Go Tigers!

Of course anything other than the playoffs is a disappointment, but I would much rather have one extra game than none at all. It really sucks going 9 months without Tiger football.

As hard as it is, think back when we faxed the Bowl in Boise

Really wanting a bowl bid. It depends on your expectations and where your team stands in the building process. I don’t think any realistic Clemson fan thought we would be talking playoff in November given all we lost last year and our early schedule. Win or lose today, this team deserves our backing. They have worked hard to get this far. Especially Bryant considering his health issues in high school. That young man is a fighter
