A city councilman in leftist Seattle in leftist Washington State is a Democrat with guts. He now openly disavows defunding the police. In effect, this guy has the self-respect to admit he was stupid in the past, but has learned his lesson. Authenticity is a rare trait among politicians; it takes a real man to admit he has learned from his former stupidity.

Darn few Democrat voters have dared to admit that they were wrong when they advocated for defunding the police. They are scarcer than hens teeth here on TNet.
The ones who admit they were wrong nearly always equivocate or attempt to deflect by saying something such as ‘MAGAs are Nazis’ or ‘Orange Man Bad.’

Yes indeed.
Both agencies remain, IMO, very corrupt.
The directors of both agencies are indeed influential, but are hardly in real control of the depths of their respective agencies.

the whole defund the police thing was a mistep in what really needs to happen.
i was on here then saying it and still saying it now. the correct term should be "reform the police". theres a long list of things that needed to happen in policing, and many of them have happened, but there still needs to be more, like my tagline below

They knew it was a stupid idea. No one in their right mind actually thought these big cities would be better places with less law enforcement. It was a political stunt used for votes with the far left base. It them bit them in the behind as it should.

Yep definitely lost votes for them. Just really dumb strategy and harmful to communities. I wish we could just get back to debating budgets, tax policies , etc and drop the brain dead social and racial crap. I think we are swinging back that way and a good for both parties if it happens.

Any ‘swinging back’ from the left only occurs after they got their keester whoooped in multiple elections.
It is difficult to accept as an authentic re-jiggering of a person’s thought process if he / she apologizes for his / her strong endorsement of a very bad legislative proposal only after the fact, but then falls all over himself to front run on the next nutty policy proposal.
Those who loudly virtue signal about their strong support of transexuals (of the ‘born as a man but is pretending to be a biological female’ stripe) to compete in girls’ / women’s sports are the next iteration of the former ‘defund the police’ crowd.

The left loves it's criminals as they vote overwhelmingly Democrat. You'll notice that basically zero Dems have condemned the domestic terrorism campaign against Tesla and they certainly didn't condemn the summer of violence in 2020, they embraced it in fact. The only time they've even pretended to care about criminal activity was on J6 and that was only because they thought they could use it to drive a stake into Trumps political heart. They aren't serious people.

They used to advocate for ‘defund the police’ until it finally got through their thick skulls that it was a political loser for the Democrats.
These same people have ‘transitioned’ into the ‘trannies (biological boys) competing in girls sports is perfectly OK’ crowd.
Before long, they will dump their advocacy of the trannies / girls sports thingy and embrace the next policy that their thought leaders in the Democrat party tell them to support.
