for the beating the Bears put on Clemson in the 92 Citrus Bowl. Didn't they beat us in 98 for the NIT championship too?

Also, the Cal bowl game we wore purple jerseys and Brenston Buckner punched a guy at the bottom of the pile in a 37-13 loss.
Not our finest hour.

I think that was the worst bowl loss in our history at the time. It was also a harbinger of things to come for Clemson football.

I sat in the rain in JAX watching Syracuse put it to us 41-0. Maybe that game was after the Cal loss.

Yep. The Syracuse debacle was after the Cal game.

Smackdown.. You are correct. That game was the start of our journey in the desert. I was there and you could just tell that Clemson was on the decline.

Yes, if I remember right, some Tigers
talked all this junk before that game and then proceeded to get humiliated. To make matters worse, wasn’t that the game where Brentson Buckner punched that dude and was ejected?
That also began the elusive 19 straight seasons without 10 or more wins. That 1991 team had the opportunity to be really special, but they got walloped by Georgia in that night game. They also had that tie with UVA, but that one wasn’t that bad to me. The UGA and Citrus Bowl debacle really took the sails out of that season.
