Heck, Let’s just redraft every June…In my years of life, I’ve rarely seen the result of greed improve any situation.
It is impossible to have the commitment required to improve and play as a team when each player is here solely to improve one’s brand.
Sitting on the bench? NEVER! Waiting? NEVER! Sacrificing without guarantees? NOPE…
So we need 22 studs and 50 that are so dumb that they just want to wear the cool gear…
At least the coaches have accomplished something to be in demand - these players have played against midgets all thru high school and may be Bryce Young, may be DJ.
So let them make all of the NIL money after their freshman year - it would improve the current legal bribery environment.

If it doesn't affect their dedication and commitment (dirty word) to the team and program, yes. Unfortunately, many who chase $ turn out to be self-centered guys who only care about their own careers and don't give a rats ash about others.

Why is this OK for coaches and not players?
After what Brian Kelly did (and Lincoln Riley and what Manny Diaz did to Temple 3 years ago), I don't want to hear any more about "selfish" players. What is good for coaches is good for players too.

I agree with you. The coaches have been a problem for years. Many are poor examples.

So, you are saying that because the coaches have been boorish, selfish, self-centered slobs, it's okay for the players to act this way too? I'm saying that this sort of behavior is bad for the game on all fronts and should not be tolerated. It is already hurting the game and probably will only get worse.

it's a business for them, just like any other. Are players now considered professionals, or still amateurs? That's the line being blurred right now

Personally I think it'd be nice if coach had to pay the university outside (1-2 years or so from contract ending), much like if schools want to fire them early...that might fix the a$$holery moves.
How do you expect a coach to build a deep team to compete perpetually if players can just up and leave whenever they feel like it. Kinda lame to back out mid season or after 1 or 2 years...
The players know what they sign up for when they "commit" to a team. Why join in the first place if you're not willing to put in the work. If you want to start at App St instead of playing backup at Clemson...then do that from the beginning. If you want to go to Alabama or Texas because you can at least get paid to sit the bench, then do it from the beginning.
If they want to be treated like "the Pros" then they better be ready for all the criticism that comes with it...they are no longer "just kids playing a game they love"

If they are moving around for the money. The Universities shouldn't be paying for scholarships of players being paid. They are doing free college tuition, food plus room and board. So it not the same what coaches do. Coaches moving to other colleges when they are still under contract from present college is very low class. From the coaches and the schools only changes should be done during offseason.

What about all the players who enter the portal and do not find another college to play their sport. But are being told by friends and family that they are too good to play second string for 1 or 2 years. Many of these players are finding themselves outside of football and no free education for the real future.

Its situational.
A player who has graduated but buried on the depth chart should always be applauded for chasing their dream at another school where there is PT available.
A player who drops out during the season should never be applauded as they could have finished the year then transferred.
A player without a clear path to a school who will accept them and provide PT should never be applauded as they are simply running away for no good reason.
Everything else is on a case by case basis.

Nope I liked the way it was. If I were them I would possibly do the same, but from a fans perspective I don't like it. I liked it when they had to sit out a year unless they were graduates.
