Just let us buy Chinese EVs without stupidly high tariffs like the rest of the world already. Trump's going to destroy most of the US auto industry soon because he doesn't seem to realize how much of the parts manufacturing happens in Canada and Mexico, thanks to deals like the USMCA that he signed. Buying a Tesla is no longer an option, for obvious reasons.

There are always going to be companies that fail in an emerging industry like EVs, but at least we were investing in it. Maybe most of them will fail, and maybe some of the money was wasted, but some will succeed and it ends up being a net positive. China has hundreds of auto manufacturers. You'll never hear of most of them, but the top companies like BYD are doing very well and I'm sure China doesn't regret the money they spent.
