After watching some of the old, grainy video clips of

"THE Catch" by Jerry Butler in the 1977 Clemson-South Carolina game, it suddenly seemed like a sense of "Deja Vu all over again". Even though Butler's catch predated the other one by decades, it reminded me of what I always call "The Spider Man Catch" by Hunter Renfrow. I was finally able to find some video of it, but unfortunately not the close up one where it actually shows how much he twisted in the air to come down with that ball. Amazing.

That catch was to my sideline. I believe it may be his single most athletic play. Was at the Jerry Butler game as well. Was feeling pretty bummed after Clemson had completely blown a 24-0 3rd qtr. lead. I remember screaming at Dad, "He caught it!!!". Great ride back to Hartsville.

Marvin Sims owns a unique record. He was never tackled for a loss on a single play while he was at Clemson. I remembered that, but I did NOT remember just how big a guy ol' Marvin was! He was HUGE for a running back.

True. The play is, understandably, lost in the excitement over the Bryce to Tee 4th down hook up. But, deep in the 3rd qtr., with TL out, trailing Syr. by 9, and the Valley still trying to process everything, HR's catch is huge. Kept a big drive going.

I saw both catches live. I was in the opposite endzone for JB's catch and could only tell he caught it by the silence that engulf the stadium before the Clemson fans cut loose. The HR catch was the best catch I have ever seen. Both catches changed the game.

I was down there too. I thought #88 had made the catch.

But, it was Butler in front of him. It was amazing.
What a game! Clemson dominates, then takes their foot off the gas.
Scar makes tremendous comeback to ... almost ... seal the win before,,,
Steve Fuller takes the Tigers on a methodical drive that ends up ripping the hearts out of a stadium full of crowing gamecock fans.
One for the ages!
