Balloons but since we live in a snowflake society… how about the on field fireworks or smoke machines…?

Give it time and the anti-balloon crowd will also want to axe smoke machines due to “air pollution”.

It did give off that typical colored smoke aroma. Brought back memories as a kid when we’d get colored smoke bombs/tubes around the 4th and New Years.

Balloons were controversial then eventhough thet were biodegradable. For a noon game, we had be at the Valley at 7 or 8am. Not a lot of college students want to do that. I think cost became another issue. Kids loved em and I enjoyed doing it (even transported a helium tank to the coot game in 2005), but I can understand why it stopped.

80,000 balloons go up.. they will fall somewhere .. and biodegradable doesn't mean they just poof into fairy dust as soon as they hit the ground.
i'm sure even the most fanatical "bring back the balloons" person may reconsider if 80,000 balloons fell in their back yard.
