According to PFF our o-line is worse than they were last year

“In fact, on the season, Blake Miller, Will Putnam, and Mitchell Mayes all have worse PFF grades than they did in 2022. That shows a worrying lack of development.
The coaching staff said before the season that this is one of the deepest offensive line groups they’ve had in years”

They’re full of crap. I watch the results. It’s clear that we don’t have anyone at Clemson who is capable of developing OL or DL. We’ve heard a lot of talk about both, and both have been mediocre. We made a true freshman QB making his first start on an average team look like a seasoned veteran on Saturday night. And we have big time 5-star recruits like Capeheart who have been in the program for YEARS and haven’t done crap. That’s coaching and player development.

If this season has taught me nothing else it is not to listen to anything that comes from coach or his staff during the spring and summer. Fastest, deepest, better than. All ########. This team sucks in all but about 2 facets of the game. No more orange kool aid. We suck until we see different with our own eyes.

Dabo’s has done a number on his credibility by talking about national championships, when this team can’t even execute the simplest of plays

Can’t run and can’t stop the run. Hard to win when you can’t get a yard.

It's a very disturbing trend. On paper, star wise, we've recruited better on the offense line the last 4 years than we have in the Dabo era. There's no doubt oline is the hardest group to project and evaluate. But we keep playing musical chairs trying to find what works. We can't have missed on that many.
Same with DL. Recruiting at a very high rate. Putting guys in NFL etc. Told how wonderful practices have been. Definitely a disconnect somewhere. At some point, you have to conclude it's development and game planning.
Our stats on both sides of the ball are good. But stats don't win games. Lots of teams through the years have good stats but lose. Many would disagree but neither our offense or defense have been special this year. Again, stats look good, but I've reviewed every game. Given our competition, we're not good on either side. Dook drug us up and down the field. We've had one good game... FSU.

But somehow they won PFF line of the week after the Cuse game

I'm still scratching my head over that one. Pass pro was decent in that game, but we couldn't run the ball in that game either, and we did give up 3 sacks. I guess the OL gets a pass because 2 of the 3 sacks were by a LB?
I just don't know how anyone could watch this OL at any point this season and say they were anywhere close to the standard of a championship program. We couldn't even run the football very well against FAU. Ship had 38 yards on 10 carries in that one, and we averaged under 5 YPC for the game. We didn't have a single run that went for 20+. That's a team we should be bullying at the LOS.

Question: Does anyone here think our OL guys need to be bigger and heavier? In this game and others I have seen some of our guys get tossed around like rag dolls. Just a question....

Could some of this O-Line problem be because their reads and responsibilities have changed under our new offensive scheme - and they are not as locked in as they were last year ?

The coaching staff said before the season that this is one of the deepest offensive line groups they’ve had in years Unfortunately, we're learning that "deepest" means they're all about equal in skill and ability. Nothing to do with good or bad, just equal.
I'll also beat the "development" drum. At several positions, we were young and talented but made first-year mistakes. With a year (or even a couple of years) under their belts, several seem to regress. Is that a development/coaching issue?
