ACC vs SEC

Nov 5, 2012, 12:41 PM

Difference is...

a) TV exposure
b) Number of night games
c) Number of top 25 matchups
d) Weekly marquee games
e) Bowl game tie-ins

How much longer can we accept substandard treatment?

Well for one we could start winning games as a conference...

Nov 5, 2012, 12:41 PM

just a thought...

Clemson didn't help anything last year with that Orange Bowl

Nov 5, 2012, 1:01 PM

We (Clemson) can't win everyone else's games for them

Until the acc (FSU and Clemson excepted) consistently puts a quality product on the field. That will change all of the above. The other members are not carrying their weight.

Somehow Miami, VT (they will be fine), GT, NCSU, and UNC

Nov 5, 2012, 12:59 PM

maybe even BC, need to find out where their swagger went. Those are perennially/historically decent teams. maybe not NCSU or UNC. But there is no excuse for Miami or FSU to be down at all.

Clemson and VT should be battling with those Florida schools for tops in the division every year.. and the BC's, GT's, Unc's, and NCSU's should be giving those top tier schools a fit every year. BC historically has put up some contenders but not since Matt Ryan.

I think Miami's deficiencies are facilities and once that is figured out, if it ever is, then coaching. they have to quit dilly-dallying with these up and comers adn go get a big name which they can get but not with the chaos in their facilities. They need to level the orange bowl and build a stadium in that spot that would suit a big time football program. Whether or not they have the room to build down there is the question.

But when all those schools are so inconsistent on a yearly basis you can't build any recruiting base.

Pitt took Notre Dame to 3 OT's....

Just sayin'...

"Stalwart universities—Harvard, Princeton, Yale—most certainly offer status. The Citadel offers character. "

I think we need to follow the Big 12 plan

Nov 5, 2012, 12:46 PM

Their middle of the road team know what they are and schedule terrible OOC teams. This makes their OOC win percentage look great heading into conference play. Duke vs Stanford, Wake and BC vs Notre Dame, NC State vs Tennessee, Miami vs K State and Notre Dame, etc. All of these games make the ACC look bad for losing, but in reality there was almost no chance of winning when they were scheduled. It's all about perception.

One word: PASSION

Nov 5, 2012, 1:00 PM

SEC has it almost everywhere; ACC not so much. Anyone know the actual number of home team fans in the stands for Wake and Duke the last two weeks?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thats not going to fix itself. the further north you go the

Nov 5, 2012, 1:06 PM

less passion you see in college football other than a few schools and thats where all the northern recruits go...to the ohio states, michigans, notre dames, etc.

FYI North Carolina is considered in that same discussion b/c their emphasis as a culture is oriented around basketball. I lived in SC and NC and I noticed a distinct difference. Football is secondary. Kids in school were more enfatuated with Jerry Stackhouse adn Vince Carter then they were Peter Warrick or Chris Weinke. Which is why you see Clemson, Florida, etc rob NC of their stud athletes every year in recruiting.

Re: I think we need to follow the Big 12 plan

Nov 5, 2012, 1:29 PM

Yeah, exactly. BC shouldn't schedule Army anymore and Tech shouldn't schedule MTSU and BYU. Just too tough and not indicative of the real ACC.
