When the Atlantic Coast Conference also includes schools in Texas and along the Pacific Coast? Granted we have pushed further towards the Midwest with Notre Dame and Louisville, but our roots are still along the Atlantic Coast.
American Athletic Conference already exists. Maybe we go the Big Ten-Big Twelve route (with ACC-AAC) and try to confuse the rest of the nation with our collection of teams that aren't quite relevant - we could call it the American Collegiate Conference and keep the ACC badging, just a thought.
Bottom Line - Atlantic Coast Conference wouldn't seem appropriate any longer.

FWIW I hope we end up in the SEC. As bad as many of the fanbases are and the aura of entitlement, the money and maintaining our presence in the Southeast are more important to me. College Football should be mostly regional and not include constant travelling across the nation.

Well the B1G has 18 teams--are they the Big 10, little 8? The SEC has teams from Missu, Tx, Ark, none of which would be considered the SE. The Big 12 has 14 teams. We have all sold our souls.

Change name to a symbol, then refer to it as the conference formerly known as the ACC.
When Prince did this years ago, it was reportedly to be able to render some label contract as unenforceable. Could that be our out?

Why wouldn’t usc be in the mix? And why not try to get Ohio state and Michigan? What better rivalry can you think of. Every Clemson fan hates those teams. Throw in Penn State and you have a great conference. Why go to the pac 10?
