I'm thankful the as-yet-unaddressed Miami situation was not a distraction for the players, courtside donors, and common fans tonight.

A powerful Stanford team that lost to Grand Canyon and Cal Poly?

Basketball, I'm told, is not football.

You can lose more and still be considered powerful.

Grand Canon is actually pretty good. Probably win their conference. I think Stanford has made good progression this year with a new coach. They have a top NBA prospect in Raynaud and think they will at least finish middle of the pack. Remember they were 1-0 in the ACC after beating Cal on the road, so expect more of big win this Saturday.

Pretty good is a long way from powerful which was my only point.

Yes. These quad 1 wins are going to be important come March.

Seriously, great win Tigers. Keep it rolling!

Stanford is net 85. Being a home game, thus a quad 3 win. Contrary to others, Stanford isn't good or powerful if you think of good teams being tournament teams. That could change and Stanford turn it around.

That said, any win is a good win and even better being in conference. This team is good. No need to make any win propped up. We were the fav and thus beat the team we were supposed to.

Agree. How did we shut down Raynaud in second half? I watched game not sure myself. He was strong in first half.

Our guards were pickpocketing their guards every other possession in the second half, they couldn’t get him the ball in the post

Jan 2, 2025, 2:24 PM [ in reply to Re: A very strong win over a powerful Stanford team. ]

Our guards took their guards' lunch money with more regularity than an 80s sitcom bully. We forced them to initiate their offense basically at the midcourt stripe and constant ball pressure gave them no entry pass looks.

This stanford team will pull off some big wins in the ACC, after all the have (as some may argue) the best player in the league.

Their Center is definitely first team ALL-ACC and will most likely be playing in the NBA next year. Not many ACC teams can boast that.

Except for him single-handedly costing us the South Carolina game.

for the entire game at South Carolina.

And when he was one of the 5, he consistently turned it over, missed shots, and got dominated by the SC bigs. Then he stayed in foul trouble the entire game, forcing Schieffelin into an even larger role which in turn resulted in Ian's foul trouble.

That dude isn’t even a top 5 player in the league lol.

Cooper Flagg is the best player in the ACC and maybe America.

I know I know not supposed to give the Dukies any credit but I’m just being honest.

RJ Davis for NC and our very own Ian Scheiffelin are also better college players.

He may not be the best but he is the ACC's leading scorer by a few points. We did a great job yesterday making it very difficult to feed him the ball inside - our guard play was off the charts.

2025 purple level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I am very optimistic about the direction this team is taking.

1

Jan 2, 2025, 11:34 AM

Maybe this year's the year BBrownell bags an ACC title and thus proves his ability to put rings on fingers.

And that will open the door for Clemson fans to begin to expect the same level of excellence from the basketball program that they've come to expect and now demand from the football program.

But until then, any optimism that is rooted in the basketball program is a day-to-day/hour-by-hour sort of optimism.

Day to day and hour to hour optimism

Jan 2, 2025, 3:30 PM

is disgusting and for the weak minded. All in or all out. Clemson Grit is a real thing. Just watch this team grind the opposition.

Then I guess I'm weak minded (sic) and disgusting.

Although grinding the opposition does sound appealing under the right circumstances.

Jan 2, 2025, 2:10 PM

In addition to losing to Grand Canyon and Cal Poly, they also barely beat the likes of Santa Clara, Norfolk State, and Merrimack (beat those bluebloods by a combined 15 points). But yes, super powerful, nearly NBA like team. LOLOLOLOL.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They were 1-0 in the ACC

coming into the game and the ACC is, in many minds, still one of the premiere if not the premiere league in men's college hoops.

until Clemson basketball stops winning. They must stop the winning! They cannot allow Brownell to win games and go the NCAA Tournament! It just would not be a good look for the storied history of Clemson basketball.

The Fluky Fans would always rather nitpick over the adjectives you use to describe our opponents than commend our current players and coaches.

They su€k at being fans, but they have the right to say the same thing about me.

Just once I'd like to hear every poster make a positive observation before they go negative. Make everybody earn the right to complain. Their inability to do so would destroy their credibility.
