A surprising Helene update

6

Oct 7, 2024, 1:08 PM

I spoke to a relative just this morning who lives in Augusta and has a place in NC between Cashiers and Cullowhee. His home in Augusta is still without power but does now have water. They are estimating power to be restored on Wednesday. Surprisingly (to us), the place in NC has one lane of the road gone but does have power and cell service.

I am sorry if this is off topic...but I thought someone might find it useful.

It is hit and miss. I have coworkers who are being told power may take a month as their substation was washed away and had to be rebuilt yet they live very near Hendersonville. I still dont have internet but am logged into my next door neighbor's wifi as they have a different carrier. Seems our Node was washed away.

I was in Florida a few years back and was without electricity for 2 weeks. That sucked and was very humid. I feel for your coworkers.
