I didn't realize the Paw was quite that old. Did we still use the Block "C" some after the Paw was born? When did we start exclusively using tge PAW? Any ideas?

1970, it was used exclusively from then on, except for Game 6 of the 1995 season, and Game 2 of the 1996 season, where a throwback helmet with just a vertical stripe was used in commemoration of 100 years of Clemson football.
Looking at the old pictures, the Paw didn't get "tilted" to it's now famous One o'clock position on the helmet until the 2009 season. So, it pretty much corresponds to Dabo's tenure as coach, except for the interim last half of 2008.
Interesting stuff, I did not realize that.
Also, the infamous "small logo" small Paw was only in use from 2003-2008, even though ESPN seems to want to keep that one on display from time to time.

I didn't become a Clemson fan until around '79-80 when I moved to SC from AK. Was a Seattle Seahawks and Washington Huskies fan strictly due to they were really the closest teams to AK, plus we had an Alaskan Husky. Took me only a year or so living in SC to become a Clemson fan and learn that the Coot fans in school were just obnoxious! Then of course lightning struck in '81 and it sealed the deal for me.

Especially Considering its only been out there for 54 short years..compared to a Michigan helmet design over 50 years older.
AND, Don't believe the famous Georgia "G" or the Buckeye helmet designs are any older than the PAW and certainly not old as say the Michigan helmet image.
