A medical analogy of what I think Tyler's point of view is.

Nov 2, 2023, 11:11 AM

Basically, we went to the doctor 2 years ago and told him that we didn’t feel good. He said that nothing is wrong, and that we needed to eat better. Then last year we returned to the doctor and told him that we still didn’t feel good. He gave us some vitamins and told us that before we had been in exceptional shape, and that this is more how we should feel on a normal basis.

Then 3 weeks ago, we went back and told the doctor that we really didn’t feel good. He told us that something wasn’t right, but he would need to do some tests to figure out what was wrong. We proceed to go home and get on WebMD. Then we call up the doctor and tell him that we know what’s wrong. We have stage 4 cancer.

Now the doctor is pissed off because we are trying to do his job that we really aren’t qualified to do. And we are pissed off because he won’t be up front and tell us how much longer we have to live. To make matters worse we don’t know if he was scared to tell us for 2 years or just missed it.

That’s my thoughts on what I think Tyler is feeling. If not him, I think it is indicative of at least a few fans.

A patient whose doctor isn't doing him any good should get a new doctor. Right?

Patient satisfaction and patient outcomes have an inverse relationship.

That's not a bad analogy...

and points to the issue that I think Tyler had was he asked the wrong question.
The question shouldn't have been 'why are we paying you X' because we all know Dabo's history and success. Most have no problem with how much he makes as it's a net positive for the school.

A better question would be 'We seem to be regressing, on offense in particular, the last three years. What is your analysis of why that is and what is the big picture plan to address it?'

He doesn't need to throw anyone under the bus, but can talk about injuries, players not developing as fast as we would like, transfers out and even staff changes. Losing both coordinators at the same time IS a big deal to any program not named Alabama.

Dabo is a positive guy, and that serves him really well most of the time. But when a season like these past few comes up he can sound like he's out of touch with the reality of the situation.
