A few stats for your reading pleasure

Oct 25, 2016, 2:42 PM

Clemson has held every one of their opponents under their total offense yardage average. To be fair, FSU has held all but UNC below their average.

The combined average of opponents total offense and total defense (Omitted SCSt for us and Chas So. for FSU)is

FSU Opponents Total Offense is 457 Yards per game and average rank is 48
CU Opponents Total Offense is 447 Yards per game and average rank is 58

FSU Opponents Total Defense is 402 Yards per game and average rank is 59
CU Opponents Total Defense is 333 Yards per game and average rank is 22

FSU Total Offense is 485 Yards per Game (26th)
CU Total Offense is 474 Yards per Game (35th)

FSU Total Defense is 387 Yards per Game (55th)
CU Total Defense is 299 Yards per Game (8th)

What I read from this is that we are much better on defense than FSU while playing against similar offenses, and

We are producing similar offensive results while playing against much better defensive opponents

Now if we can just keep the turnovers to a minimum and score more points than they do, we've got 'em beat.

Go Tigers

Only because they were U of L 's first decent opponent.

This reminds me of one of the funniest comments I ever heard on ESPN (i think*) back in the day: After reeling off similar statistical analysis..."But everyone knows that games aren't played on paper- they're played inside little rectangular television sets...to the highlights!"
