Hiring a guy like Bakich, and Neff clearly making amends for Radakovich's anti-Clemson behavior was necessary to undo the damage we inflicted on ourselves.

Well most everybody that come to T-Net knows that at the end of his Head Coaching career for our Tiger team, something had gone wrong with his Lightning bolt bc it had went pretty dim for a few seasons when he was let go. I have no other choice but to believe what Bakich is saying about Jack's energy with the team here of late, but something happened as our HC bc those last teams of Jack's just didn't have what it takes to play Clemson type baseball, and I personally believe that DRAD done what needed to be done at that time in Jack's career bc the Lightning has lost it's flash. If it's bc of Jack that this team is playing like they're playing, I'm proud of him, and I'm glad that he's back in his now role!!! Go Jack, your Lightning strikes has regained it's power!!!

I don’t agree. Jack’s teams were always cyclical. 2010 peaked early. That team should have peaked in 2011. They were a better team that year but fell flat in the regional. The loss to SCat hung heavy over that team. Then in 2012 we get sent to the SCar regional - losing two one-run games to the eventual CWS finalist. We won 40 games in 2013 but were once again sent to Cootville. 2014 & 2015 were down years but not atypical in his normal cycle. SCar’a success, at both football and baseball, simply eroded any patience from the fanbase. Monte was proven to be an inferior coach to Leggett but was highly successful with Leggett’s players. The incoming class in 2016 was the best in years, even after losing a couple of our best commits after Leggett’s firing. Leggett had only one year left on his contract. I think that team would have done well for Leggett but if it didn’t we could have moved on without seven years of a coot as an interim coach.

Yes...THIS. A lot of rosy memories in this thread that don't bear up under close inspection. Losing a home regional to UCONN, the inability to beat SCAR in the post season, especially watching their baseball team climb the mountain...and then watching them climb it AGAIN. Losing
a regional in Columbia one year, then going back the next year and going 0-2...without even playing SCAR. Also went 0-2 in Nashville, without even playing Vandy. We went from hosting supers and going to Omaha to not even hosting regionals. Monte just continued the slide.

then, obviously. Jack's lows were significantly better than when the bottom fell out after he left. Monte's best seasons were with Jack's players/program. It was a terrible, short-sighted, greedy mistake to fire him for SCAR's crazy success. Our program would have been in much better shape had we remained patient and understood college baseball better. Jack's lows were objectively far better than Wilhelm's who most of Jack's detractors see as ideal.
Now that we finally amended our terrible mistake, Clemson baseball is back.

Bringing Leggett back to Clemson and bringing about that reconciliation speaks volumes about Bakich and his philosophy of coaching.
