5 months

Dec 31, 2021, 12:27 PM

5 months without a drink and its New Years? Normally I would be anxious and trying to figure out what to do with my time. But instead, I've built up a sober network of like-minded individuals who are similarly as ###### up as I am, and we have a grand time.

We're gonna hit up the Y for a game of 3 v 3 tonight. Then head to midwood and put a hurting on them for ribs and wings. A little bit of book study. Then I'll be stuffing my face with probably a whole tub of Blue Bell Chocolate Sheet Cake ice cream and will be in bed by 10.

This isn't what I expected life to be like at 33, but it's better than what I was doing in so many ways. Still a long way to go to fix the damage I've done in my past and to correct my character defects (for example, making political jabs in the mange --- knowing full an well I'm not there for discussion but am just stirring things up for my own entertainment), but the work is good and it's rewarding.

I'm down 35 lbs, have a side business that is netting me about 30% of my FTE salary and my family isn't ashamed of me any more. Feels good. It really does.

Happy New Years guys. PLEASE drink an IPA and an EW mule in my honor. Pass out on the sidewalk. Get a talking to by Law enforcement. Whatever. But as Father G®, please don't drive.

You've still got work to do because HE is ashamed of you.

Let's work on fixing this in 2022. <img border=">

Loved it. Cept one thing: they were not ashamed of you.

If a few were, you know who they are, and nothing will ever please them. The rest love you and always did. You know all that. Have a great New Year, my friend.

Was driving down Laurens Road last week, cop pulled me over. Heart rate went through the roof, I was looking all around the cabin making sure everything was okay. Then I realized: 'Dude, you haven't had a drink in two years and 10 months, you're fine. Relax.' By the time the cop rolled up was like, "Lay it on me, I don't care." Taillight was out. You can relate, I'll bet.

Didn't know you were along for this journey as well. It's a long ride --- I'm willing to chip in for gas if I ever need to.

I'm glad to know you're wining the war against your demise.

You've been between 3rd and 6th on my prayer list for many moons now. Praise God that he's seeing my prayers are worth more than just to give me love for you. God bless you, brother.

Do me a righteous favor and open the Bible to PSA 22 tonight when you start your reading and try to remember why it happened as David foretold.

One year ago today I quit smoking cigarettes. Funny how I don't even think about it anymore. Hopefully you'll have a similar experience.

Keep up the good work!

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm gonna broach that point in the near future.

Dec 31, 2021, 3:02 PM

Honestly, that's awesome that you're not thinking about it anymore. I quit nicotine for 10 months one time and was successful in the short term, but it was no walk in the park. That's awesome, brother

Congrats, Stubborn. Proud of you!***
