Call me crazy but I somewhat agree with him on going rogue. Watching the replay, the handoff was going to be stuffed anyways. Why was it stuffed? Because it was being conducted by an OL that had been almost completely useless the ENTIRE game. Right or wrong, Cade decided he had a better shot at success than an OL that couldn’t get 3 yards on 3 attempts. Rewatch the interview. He’s clearly avoiding the real answer to the question.

This reeks of arrogance. After 2 fumbles and an interception, and the FSU debacle on the screen play. This clips sounds like Cade needs to mature and learn a little humility. This isnt an excuse for the poor coaching however.

Can’t fault Cade in the moment he did what he thought was best. We just have to do a better job in preparation during practice to help him make batter decisions.
Some on Cade, but not all on Cade. Coach’s need to get on the same side… Dabo and Riley are not a cohesive unit at the moment. Needs to get fixed before next week with NCST coming up.

Look at how the play evolved. Everybody was on the right. If he had handed the ball off as instructed, our running back would have cut back behind the offensive line and waltzed into the end zone untouched.
But the problem IS much deeper. I think an equivalent comparison is the Jaguar’s coaching change from Urban Meyer to Doug Pederson. Look how Trevor, Travis, and the entire offense have evolved since an experienced top coach was hired.
I totally believe in Dabo and he’s the right coach for Clemson … he just needs to upgrade his assistants and position coaches.
We have a whole lot of former Clemson player coaches and I loved them as players and pros, but there is a cavernous leap from former player to top level coach - like Clemson deserves.
Our year-over-year drop in performance directly correlates to the addition of these inexperienced coaches in key positions.
For us to get back to the top of the mountain, Dabo needs to hire top level coaches (and yes, you can find ones that still fit our culture) .. and LET THEM COACH!!
The new coaches will bring their new ideas and we SHOULD incorporate SOME of those changes so that the “Clemson offense and defense” evolves and we’re not stuck on Clemson v1.0 … all of our opponents have already figured out what that is and have dismantled our advantage.
It’s time to move to Clemson v2.0 … and get back on track to Clemson standard.

I guess you see something different. I see Shipley getting hit at the 3 yard line according to the first and second pic. He doesn't get in. You can't look only at the third pic - the D is reacting to Cade with the ball. BTW, I'm not convinced Shipley wouldn't have lost his mind in the moment if Cade's only instruction was to hand it to him. I know what has been said by Cade and Dabo - just unconvinced. Looks like zone read to me. Correct read b/c DE crashes. MIA LB ready for the call and jumped outside. It looks like we got played on the call baiting Cade into the "right" decision that they were prepared for.

There are two reasons a player goes rogue. In scenario 1 the player is a narcissist. Scenario 2 is a bit more complex and involves players losing all faith in the leaders above them and their ability to make the proper call. While CK has made some pretty, shall I say, over optimistic comments regarding his vision of this years team, I think scenario 2 is what is really going on. Calling the same play 4 times and expecting it to suddenly work probably didn’t sit well with him and he said screw it, I’m going to make something happen. Didn’t work out but neither was the play call so I guess I can’t fault him for trying.
This really is a sign that Dabo is or has already begun to lose the locker room. Best is the standard better start meaning winning ball games again or this whole house of cards is about to implode and Dabo will be blaming Clemson fans next

The "problem" is not...

...just the QB. It's rooted in the offensive play calls and COACHING (or lack of COACHING). Two weeks off did nothing to solve the issues the Tigers have had all season. I have no answers. All Clemson can hope for is to win out the rest of the season which I have serious doubts they can do...

Team can't move the ball in the red zone anyway. Laughable...***

If that play call was a zone read - i think it was - he read it correctly and made the right decision. Problem was Miami expected the call - DE was told to crash down on RB to bait the QB keep which was covered.

The play was totally there to work as a handoff

see the pics posted above. The only way it fails is if they fumble or Shipley trips or goes rogue himself and straight into the line instead of following the designed zone blocking that formed a wall. We probably still lose 28-26 but that should have been a TD if he just follows simple instructions.

Coaches call the plays. It's the players job to execute them.
